Listen To The Music

Doobie Brothers

Capo 9th fret

Intro

 GC/G
Don't you feel it growing, day by day
 GEm
People are getting ready for the news
 DC
Some are happy, some are sad
 GC/G
Oh, we're gonna let the music play

 GC/G
What the people need is a way to make them smile
 GEm
It ain't so hard to do if you know how
 DC
Got to get a message, get it on through
 G
Lord, now mamma, don't you ask me why

Chorus
 EmC
     Oohohooh, listen to the music
 EmC
     Oohohooh, listen to the music
 EmC
     Oohohooh, listen to the music
 A7C
     All the time

Well I know, you know better, everything I say
Leave me in the country for a day
We'll be happy and we'll dance
Oh, we're gonna dance the blues away

And if I'm feeling good to you and you're feeling good to me
There ain't nothing we can do or say
Feeling good, feeling fine,
Oh baby, let the music play

Chorus

 GFC/GG
Like a lazy flowing river, surrounding castles in the sky
 GF
And the crowd is growing bigger,
Listening for the happy sounds
Gonna have to let them go----

Chorus

Moved capo to 9th fret to place song in the key of E which is how the Doobies performed it.

No need for a capo. Play song in E. For intro and fils barre fret 9 but leave bottom E string open, hammer from F# on A string to G#. Once you get the groove bring in the F#m7 hammered and pulled off keeping the barre throughout. Let open E ring on. Once you feel it you'll get it. Pete

Cool 9th fret is hectic though - played in the 7th and it sounds ok as well
