Blame It on Cain  Elvis Costello

Tuning: Standard (w/ capo on the third fret)
Ok, so this version of Blame It On Cain is at the end of my copy of My Aim Is True. I
been able to find any tabs of it online so here we are.
Elvis Costello plays this version on a single acoustic guitar with a capo on the 3rd
The chord names that I wrote above the lyrics are the chord names WITHOUT a capo, so with
capo on the 3rd fret, just form those regular chords.
The lyrics for this version are also a little different than the full-band version of
It On Cain. Hope someone finds this useful.
[D]Once upon a [G]time, I [D]had a little [G]money
Government [D]burglars took it [G]long
before I could [D]mail it to you
But you are the [B]only one[C] [B]
Now I can't let it slip away[D] [G] [D]
So [Ab]if the [A]man with the ticker [Ab]tape[A]
tries to take [Ab]it[A]
well this is what I'm gonna [D]say
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
Don't blame it on [D]me[D7]
It's[G] nobody's f[A]ault
But we [G]need somebody to b[D]urn
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
[G]Please don't blame it on [D]me
It's nobody's[G] fault[A]
But it [G]just seems to be his [D]turn
Oh well [D]if I was a [G]saint with
a[D] silver [G]cup
and the [D]money got [G]low
we could [D]always heat it up
or trade it [B]in
[C] [B] [D]
But the[D]n the radio that heaven will be wired to your purse.
then [Ab]you can [A]run down the wave [Ab]band,
[A]coast to coast, hand in [Ab]hand.
[A]Bad to worse, curse for [Ab]curse,[A]
don't be dissati[G]sfied.[C] [G]
So you're [A]not satisf[D]ied.
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
Don't blame it on [D]me[D7]
It's[G] nobody's f[A]ault
But we [G]need somebody to b[D]urn
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
[G]Please don't blame it on [D]me
It's nobody's[G] fault[A]
But it [G]just seems to be his [D]turn
I think I've [D]lived a little too [G]long
on the [D]outskirts of [G]town
I think I'm [D]going in[G]sane
[D] [B] [C] [B]
Oh, but I've never been ac[D]cused[G] [D]
But [Ab]when they [A]step upon your face,[Ab]
[A]They wear that good look grin.
I[Ab] gotta [A]break out one weekend[Ab]
Before I [A]do somebody in.[Ab]
But [A]every single time[Ab]
I [A]feel a little stronger,
A [B]voice says it's a crime
But [A]how much longer?
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
Don't blame it on [D]me[D7]
It's[G] nobody's f[A]ault
But we [G]need somebody to b[D]urn
Blame it on [Bm]Cain
[G]Please don't blame it on [D]me
It's nobody's[G] fault[A]
But it [G]just seems to be his [D]turn
