The Great Speckled Bird Misc. Gospel
What a [G]beautiful thought I was [C]thinking
Con[D7]cerning the great speckled [G]bird;
Remember her name is re[C]corded
On the [D7]pages of God's Holy [G]Word.
All the other birds flocking a[C]round her,
And [D7]she is despised by the [G]squad;
And the great speckled bird in the [C]Bible
Repres[D7]ents you, the great church of [G]God.
She is [G]spreading her wings for a [C]journey,
S[D7]he is going to take by and [G]by;
When the great trumpet sounds in the [C]morning
She will [D7]meet her dear Lord in the [G]sky.
With all other churches against her,
They envy her glory and fame.
They hate her because she is chosen
And never has denied His dear name.
Desiring to lower her standard,
They watch every move that she makes;
They love to find fault with her teaching
But really the find no mistake.
In the presence of her despisers,
With song never uttered before
She'll arise and be gone in a moment
'Til the great tribulations are o'er.
I am glad that I learned of her meekness,
I am glad that my name's on her book;
For I want to be one never fearing
On the face of our Saviour to look.
