Off The Map - Alkaline Trio - This Addiction
Standard Tuning (EADGBe)
Arranged/Tabbed By Jack Cookson (Torn Asunder)

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an acoustic arrangement of Alkaline Trio's new song 'Off The Map'.
Due to a leak, the new album 'This Addiction' got put onto YouTube and I
just loved this song out of all of them. I do feel guilty listening to it
before the release date but I am still buying it when it comes out.
I think this is one of Dan Andriano's best so far and I hope you enjoy
playing it. You'll have to find a way to listen to the song (or just wait
till it's out) to get the rhythm right, it's pretty straight forward
though. I worked this all out by ear, so no primary sources or copying.

*IMPORTANT*
The chords used in this song are shown below,
as I think the highlight chord diagrams are incorrect a lot of the time.
I've put in a few variations of each chord too, including power chords for
you acoustic rockers out there, and open string chords which sound
very pretty, kind of sounds like a 12 string.
Don't play the strings marked with an 'x'
Normal Chords | Open String Chords | Power Chords
E (022100) > Emodal (079900) > E5 (022xxx)
A (x02220) > Asus2 (x02200) > A5 (x022xx)
B (x24442) > Bsus4 (x24400) > B5 (x244xx)
C#m (x46654) > C#m7 (x46600) > C#5 (x466xx)
G#m (466444) > E5/G# (4x2400) > G#5 (466xxx)

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

*ALSO IMPORTANT*
This song has two guitars in the interlude parts, rhythm, playing power
chords, and lead, playing octave chords. I've arranged it so you can play it
on one guitar, though some bits may be a bit of a stretch. I've put in
the power chords the rhythm guitar plays above the tab, so if you find
the tab too stretchy then you can just miss it out and play the power chords.

This can also work as an intro if you're doing an acoustic cover of it,
so you don't have to do that weird harmonic bit at the start.

[E]I needed more wine, you needed [A]more sleep
We just [C#m]fought two hours and [G#m]seven minutes
[A]Honestly, I'm su[B]rprised we made it
[E]I retired to my chair,
I [A]grabbed my new guitar,
But[C#m] I can't make a s[G#m]ound
You could hear p[A]oisonous pins dropping [B]all around like [A]rain
But I can ride the storm [B]out,
[G#]Because [A]I'm like a junkie for your [B]smart mouth[A] [B]
See, I'm [E]so far off the [A]map, the sun is [B]shining
While it's ra[E]ining and I'm d[A]raped in silver l[B]ining
And I can [C#m]row, row, [A]row my b[B]oat back to [E]shore [B]somed[A]ay
So are you coming [B]with me?

INTERLUDE

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

[E]I loosen my lips and the [A]truth slips out,
A [C#m]free ride on a f[G#m]orked tongue,
This [A]twine of trust is [B]unspun
[E]I can start to believe that's what you [A]need from me
So [C#m]far from what I [G#m]want for you,
But [A]I'll lock it down and [B]we'll make do
You're [A]right, there's only one real [B]option[G#m]
And [A]I'm here now, so help me keep my [B]voice down[A] [B]
See, I'm [E]so far off the [A]map, the sun is [B]shining
While it's ra[E]ining and I'm d[A]raped in silver l[B]ining
And I can [C#m]row, row, [A]row my b[B]oat back to [E]shore [B]somed[A]ay
So are you coming [B]with me?

INTERLUDE x2

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I'm[E] so far off the[A] map, the sun is[B] shining
While it's ra[E]ining and I'm d[A]raped in silver l[B]ining
And I can [C#m]row, row, [A]row my b[B]oat back to [E]shore [B]somed[A]ay
So are you coming [B]with me?
