DISTANTLY IN LOVE

Jimmy Buffett

 DGAD
Payphones all were ringing as the crowd went roaring by,
 DGAD
Lovely dancers swayin' to an island lullaby
 DGAD
Beside the southern ocean, taking stock of what's to be
 DGAD
Writing you this letter that you'll prob'ly never see

CHORUS 1:
 GG/F#mAGG/F#mA
But I can't help but be ruled by inconsistancies,
 GG/F#mAD
not unique just distantly in love.

 DGAD
Tried to phone from Paris, thinking things could be arranged
 DGAD
Me and you would rendevous, but I found your number changed
 DGAD
So I drove to San Ramos where the crazy painter dwells
 DGAD
Toasted our old photographs still up there on his shelves

CHORUS 2:
 GG/F#mAGG/F#mA
But can't help but be ruled by my antiquities,
 GG/F#mAD
not unique just distantly in love.

Instrumental
D G A D x2

BRIDGE:
 F#mGF#mG
I can't be the one to fill your times and all your places
 F#mGEA
I can't be the one to fill your blanks and empty spaces

 DGAD
heard it from a friend of ours I saw in Timber Bay
 DGAD
You had a new lover who had stolen you away
 DGAD
That could be the reason that I never got in touch
 DGAD
It may presents slight problems if he loves you half as much

CHORUS 3:
 GG/F#mAGG/F#mA
Because its I   who can't help but be ruled by my antiquities,
 GG/F#mAD
not unique just distantly in love.

 GG/F#mAGA
You know can't help but be part of my own philosophies,
 GG/F#mAD
not unique just distantly in love.

I've been playing this song for years, but I never actually wrote it down to
send it in until now. The best memory I have of this song is when Jimmy did
it acoustic both nights at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA on the '94 Fruitcakes
tour. Anyhoo, Enjoy!
