English Curse  Frank Turner

here are some hypothetical chords for the frank turner song where his backing
band didn't turn up on the day of recording. or they did, but when they mixed
down the recordings they'd made someone knocked the 'solo' button next to
frank's channel and that was all that went out. or maybe he did it on purpose
i don't know whatcha lookin at me for punk? either way there's just
singing which is great because it makes it all dark and mystical like the
atmosphere he's trying to evoke, how appropriate, if you play these chords
while you sing it you'll destroy all that. have fun campers.
[F#m]Many years back when the old oaks were young
[Bm]Not long after the [F#m]Northmen had [D]come
A [A]low and [C#7]evil deed was [F#m]done
In the [A]dark of [B7]the New [F#]Forest
In the [A]dark of [E]the New [F#m]Forest
[F#m]From the shores of Normandy King William came
To [Bm]Albion fair, King [F#m]Harold to [D]slay
With [A]greed in his heart and his [C#7]scurrilous [F#m]claim
He [A]took the [B7]land for his [F#]own
He [A]took the [E]land for his [F#m]own
Now [F#m]John was a blacksmith, an honest old man
He [Bm]raised up his children and [F#m]worked with his [D]hands
At his [A]family's forge in the [C#7]patch of [F#m]land
In the [A]dark of [B7]the New [F#]Forest
In the [A]dark of [E]the New [F#m]Forest
[F#m]King William rode out after his victory
To [Bm]ravage the land in his [F#m]hunger to [D]thieve
For [A]hunting grounds in the [C#7]Wessex [F#m]trees
He [A]took the [B7]land for his [F#]own
He [A]took the [E]land for his [F#m]own
But if you [F#m7]steal the land of an Englishman
Then [B7]you will know this curse
Your [D]first born son's warm [E]blood will run
U[F#m]pon the [E]English [F#m]earth
Now King William's son was called Rufus the Red
He took up the crown when his father was dead
And he rode the hunting grounds in his stead
In the dark of the New Forest
In the dark of the New Forest
But John's curse it called out and Lord Terryl fired low
The arrow struck William with a sickening blow
And he fell from his horse to the ground below
And the land took him for its own
The land took him for its own
So if you steal the land of an Englishman
Then you will know this curse
Your first born son's warm blood will run
Upon the English earth
Many years back when the old oaks were young
Not long after the Northmen had come
A low and evil deed was done
In the dark of the New Forest
In the dark of the New Forest
