Drunken Nights On The City  Frankie Miller

www.frankiemiller.net

Written for the late, great, Jimmy Johnstone.

From the Album,'The Rock'.

Verse1:
I'll [C]tell you a story about a night on the town,
It started off drinking and [G]fighting.
By the time a was through,
I'd near worn out my shoes,
I had visited every known [C]dive.
All the lights in the alley,
Fall dim on the ground,
When your trying to see your way [F]home.
And the all night ladies,
In their [C]perfume so fine,
[G]Wont leave a poor boy [C]alone.

Break: C / F / C Cadd9 C //

Verse 2:
Well the [C]paths of the gambler
Are kneeded too thin,
When the cards are all spread on the [G]floor.
The six and the seven,
I needed to win,
And you cant call the bluff any [C]more.
So you stand to your feet,
And you figure discretly,
The best way to pay what you [F]owe.
And she hands you a line,
Tells you [C]thanks for the time,
'You [G]might have brought brains to the [C]show.'

Chorus:
Drunken [F]nights on the city,
Are [C]showing their toes,
They'll [F]take you for all that you [C]owe.
You [F]cant judge a book,
And you [C]cant judge a crook,
[G]Down where the men, they cant [C]go.

Break: C / F / C Cadd9 C //

Verse 3:
By [C]early the next morning,
I rose up to tight,
My eyes were as red as the [G]light.
My pockets were empty,
And so was my heart,
And i promised to put things [C]right.
So I went to the preacher,
I fell on my knees,
I asked the preacher,
To right all my [F]wrongs,
But he just shook his head,
And looked [C]sorry when he said,
'Youve [G]been on the drink far too [C]long'

Chorus x2 - fade.

Would it be too much to ask if the proper lyrics were used! - or is this this a copywrite issue.
