I learned this song a long time ago, like when it 1st won an academy award for Harry Neilson(Midnight Cowboy. First is played in drop D tuning. you are pretty close but not
+it goes D,Dmaj,Dmaj7, and the chorus is an Em,but is played on the 2nd fret,4th,5th,and 6th strings. All of the rest of it is pretty standard.
