Carolina In My Mind  James Taylor

[G]In my mind I'm[C] going to Ca[D]rolina
[C]Can't you see the [D]sunshine
[C]Can't you just feel the [D]moonshine
[G]Maybe just like a [Em]friend of mine
It [C]hit me [G]from [D]behind
[C]Yes [D]I'm [G]going to [D]Caro[C]lina [D]in my [G]mind

[G]Karen she's a[C] silver sun
You best [C]walk her way and [D]watch it shining
[Em]Watch her [C]watch the morning[D] come
[D]A silver tear appearing now I'm cryin, ain't I?
[G]Going to [D]Carol[C]ina [D]in my [G]mind

There [G]ain't no doubt it[C] no one's mind
That [C]love's the finest[D] thing around
[Em]Whisper [C]something warm and [D]kind
And[D] hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm dying, ain't I?
[G]Going to [D]Caro[C]lina [D]in my [G]mind

[G]Dark and silent l[C]ate last night
I think I [C]might have heard the [D]highway calling
[Em]Geese in [C]flight and dogs that [D]bite
[C]Signs that might be [G]omens say I [Em]goi[D]ng, [C]go[D]ing
I'm [G]going to [D]Caro[C]lina [D]in my [G]mind

With a [Em]holy host of [C]others standing [Em]round me [D]
[G]Still I'm on the [C]dark side of the [Em]moon  [D]
And it [C]seems like it goes [C]on like [D]this [G]forever
You must [Em]forgive me    [D]
If I'm up and [G]gone to [D]Caro[C]lina [D]in my [G]mind

For the D in every 3rd line of the verses, you can put your pinky down on the high G
beside your middle finger which is on the F#). It'll sound nice, but it sounds the best if
do it like this:

D (wait) (add the pinky) (take it off)
"Whisper something warm and kind"

Good luck!

I have to say, as a massive James Taylor fan who is just learning to play the guitar and has limimted chord knowledge, this version works just fine for me... THANKS!!!!

dude you don't even have the lyrics right . why do people post songs that they don't check to make sure they are correct . Do you write a letter and never check it for punctuations ? Man the uneducated these days !

scosio (report)

It's a good start. Capo 3, play in D (down 5 semitones).

Those are not the proper chords. For instance, in the first line, "Carolina" should be a Em, then an A7.

krzykat (report)

i realize that this is just a representation of the song, and appreciate the effort that was put forth. I am also grateful that i can transpose it to fit more closely to the original version

Hi there

Firstly great site; the chords in many songs here may dont reflect the original chords or keys but they enable people seeking a simple singalong environment (or even professionals seeking the "gist" of the music). Let's not criticise - the objective is to enjoy; if you want full orchestrations why don't you buy the manuscripts!

krzykat (report)

transpose it down 5 semitones so the first chord is D its closer to the actual chords

boboh (report)

not even the right key

watch mr taylor play this song on you tube and you will see how wrong the chords are.
