Carolina In My Mind

James Taylor

In my mind I'm going to Carolina
 Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Maybe just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm going to Carolina in my mind

 Karen she's a silver sun
You best walk her way and watch it shining
Watch her watch the morning come
 A silver tear appearing now I'm cryin, ain't I?
Going to Carolina in my mind

There ain't no doubt it no one's mind
That love's the finest thing around
 Whisper something warm and kind
And hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm dying, ain't I?
Going to Carolina in my mind

Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I going, going
I'm going to Carolina in my mind

With a holy host of others standing round me
Still I'm on the dark side of the moon
And it seems like it goes on like this forever
You must forgive me
If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind

For the D in every 3rd line of the verses, you can put your pinky down on the high G
beside your middle finger which is on the F#). It'll sound nice, but it sounds the best if
do it like this:

D (wait) (add the pinky) (take it off)
"Whisper something warm and kind"

Good luck!

watch mr taylor play this song on you tube and you will see how wrong the chords are.
boboh (report comment to admin):
not even the right key
krzykat (report comment to admin):
transpose it down 5 semitones so the first chord is D its closer to the actual chords

Hi there

Firstly great site; the chords in many songs here may dont reflect the original chords or keys but they enable people seeking a simple singalong environment (or even professionals seeking the "gist" of the music). Let's not criticise - the objective is to enjoy; if you want full orchestrations why don't you buy the manuscripts!
krzykat (report comment to admin):
i realize that this is just a representation of the song, and appreciate the effort that was put forth. I am also grateful that i can transpose it to fit more closely to the original version
spinaltapr (report comment to admin):
Those are not the proper chords. For instance, in the first line, "Carolina" should be a Em, then an A7.
scosio (report comment to admin):
It's a good start. Capo 3, play in D (down 5 semitones).
merrillmetzger (report comment to admin):
dude you don't even have the lyrics right . why do people post songs that they don't check to make sure they are correct . Do you write a letter and never check it for punctuations ? Man the uneducated these days !

I have to say, as a massive James Taylor fan who is just learning to play the guitar and has limimted chord knowledge, this version works just fine for me... THANKS!!!!
