Esus2 |024400|
E5 |022400|

[cb]B/E[/cb] |024440| (optional flourish in bridge)
I'm not sure why all the chords posted on this one have been so off (especially
for the bridge) when the song is so incredibly straightforward, but I believe this
to be far more accurate to the album.
About the only tricky part at all is in the bridge after "and I don't need to know
your stories". There's an option there to add a B/E chord, and I recommend doing
so if you can get it down. This is easily accomplished with tapping on and off
the b string by playing the Esus2 chord above with the following fingering:
a string, index
d string, middle
g string, ring
b string, pinky
I know that sounds complex, but if you listen to the album, the timing is very
easy and the fingering isn't difficult once you get it down. Enjoy!
INTRO: E6, Esus2, E5 (x4)
-VERSE 1-
[E6] Now y[Esus2]ou don't have a [E5]purpose
[E6] You don't let [Esus2]anybody [E5]in
[E6] You don't [Esus2]understand why she don't [E5]love you
[E6] But you don't [Esus2]understand [E5]yourself
[E6] Now you're [Esus2]out there with no [E5]target
[E6] So your [Esus2]friends become your [E5]aim
[E6] But there is [Esus2]no one left a[E5]round you
[E6] So there is [Esus2]no one left [E5]to blame
-CHORUS-
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know, it won't hurt you
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know will save you from some pain
But if [E6]I could choose, [Esus2]oh, I'd let it [E5]hurt you
Cause there's [E6]something 'bout [Esus2]life in the [E5]pain
-VERSE 2-
[E6] Now there's [Esus2]something inside you [E5]stirring
[E6] Like there's a [Esus2]fight coming [E5]your way
[E6] But there'll be [Esus2]no fists you'll be [E5]throwing
[E6] Just some [Esus2]words you've got [E5]to say
[E6] And you'll [Esus2]scream for our [E5]repentance
[E6] Or you'll [Esus2]hide behind [E5]what's fake
[E6] But there ain't [Esus2]nothing to for[E5]giveness
[E6] You give as [Esus2]freely as [E5]you take
-CHORUS-
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know, it won't hurt you
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know will save you from some pain
But if [E6]I could choose, [Esus2]oh, I'd let it [E5]hurt you
Cause there's [E6]something 'bout [Esus2]life in the [E5]pain
-BRIDGE-
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E6 E5 E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5
And I don't need to know your stories
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E6 E5 E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5
Don't need to understand your pain
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E6 E5 E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5,[cb]B/E[/cb],E5
Cause I've been here since the beginning
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E6 E5
And I'll be here the rest of the way
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E6 E5 (or [cb]B/E[/cb] if you prefer)
And I'll be here the rest of the way
-VERSE 3-
[E6] Now you've [Esus2]tried your hand at [E5]running
[E6] Why don't you [Esus2]try your hand [E5]at faith?
[E6] Cause there's a [Esus2]moment to be [E5]taken
E6 Esus2 E5 (hold)
But it is right before you break
-CHORUS-
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know, it won't hurt you
[cb]A5/E[/cb] E
And what you don't know will save you from some pain
But if [E6]I could choose, [Esus2]oh, I'd let it [E5]hurt you
Cause there's [E6]something 'bout [Esus2]life in the [E5]pain
Cause there's [E6]something 'bout [Esus2]life in the [E5]pain
Cause there's [E6]something 'bout [Esus2]life in the [E5]pain
