Behind the Wall of Sleep  The Smithereens

Absolutely great song by the Smithereens, and easy to play and sing. The chorus
could be subdivided more but this charts a solid course. There is some controvery
about the girl named. The right name is Jeannie Shrimpton, an "it girl" from the
1960s, check her out on Google Images. Good Luck, John Pineau
[Em]She had hair like Jeannie Shrimpton [G]back in 1965
She had [Am]legs that never ended, I was [Em]halfway paralyzed
She was tall and cool and pretty and she [G]dressed as black as coal
If she [Am]asked me to I'd murder, I would [Em]gladly lose my soul
CHORUS:
[G]Now I lie in bed and [Em]think of her
[G]Sometimes I even [Em]weep
Then I [Am]dream of her [G]behind a wall of [Em]sleep
[Em]Well she held a bass guitar and she was [G]playing in a band
And she [Am]stood just like Bill Wyman, now I [Em]am her biggest fan
Now I know I'm one of many who would [G]like to be your friend
And I've [Am]got to find a way to let you know I'm [Em]not one of them
(CHORUS)
[Em]Got your number from a friend of mine who [G]lives in your home town
Called you [Am]up to have a drink your roomate [Em]said you weren't around
Now I know I'm one of many who would [G]like to be your friend
And I've [Am]got to find a way to let you know I'm [Em]not like them
(CHORUS)
[Am]Behind a [G]wall of [Em]sleep
[Am]Behind a [G]wall of [Em]sleep
[Am]Behind a [G]wall of [Em]sleep
