If You're Reading This  Tim McGraw

If You're Reading This
Performed by Tim McGraw
Capo 4th Fret
I am not sure if this is exactly how they play it, but it sounds more precise
than just using the base chords.
Since the neck is capoed, these are really representative of the chord formations
rather than the actual chords (sound) being produced. You probably already
realize that but it was worth meantioning anyway.
G11: 3X0200
Cmaj7: X32000
Cmaj7/G: X32003
Dsus2: XX0230
G: 320003
Dsus2/F#: 2X0230
Em: 022000
C: 032010
Am7: X02213
G/B: X20003
Intro: G11 Cmaj7 Dsus2
If youre [G]reading this my [Dsus2/F#]momma's sittin there. Looks [Em]like I only got a one
way ti[C]cket over here. Su[G]re wish I could give you o[Dsus2/F#]ne more kiss. [Em]War was
just a game we played when w[C]e were kids. So I'm [Am7]laying down my gun, and
[G/B]hangin up my boots. [Cmaj7/G]I'm up here with God and were both [Dsus2]watching over you.
So [C]lay [Dsus2/F#]me [Em]down,[Dsus2] [C]in that open field out on the e[Dsus2]dge of
town. And [C]know [Dsus2/F#]my [Em]soul,[Dsus2] is [C]where my momma always prayed that
[Dsus2]it would go. If you're [C]reading this, [Dsus2]I'm already [G11]home.[Cmaj7] [Dsus2]
If you're [G]reading this, halfway [Dsus2/F#]round the world, I [Em]won't be there
to see the birth of our [C]little girl. I hope she [G]looks like you, I hope she
[Dsus2/F#]fights like me. And [Em]stands up for the innocent [C]and the weak.
So I'm [Am7]laying down my gun, and [G/B]hangin up my boots. Tell [Cmaj7/G]dad I
don?t regret that I [Dsus2]followed in his shoes.
So [C]lay[Dsus2/F#] me [Em]down,[Dsus2] [C]in that open field out on the [Dsus2]edge of
town. And [C]know [Dsus2/F#]my [Em]soul,[Dsus2] is [C]where my momma always prayed that
[Dsus2]it would go. If you're [C]reading this, [Dsus2]I'm already home.[Em] [Dsus2]
Bridge: G11 Cmaj7 Dsus2
If you're [G]reading this there's gonna [Dsus2/F#]come a day, when [Em]you'll move
on and find someone else, and t[C]hat's okay. Just [G]remember this, I'm in a
[Dsus2/F#]better place, where [Em]soldiers live in peace and
angels [C]sing "amazing [Dsus2]grace"
So [C]lay [Dsus2/F#]me [Em]down,[Dsus2] [C]in that open field out on the [Dsus2]edge of
town. And [C]know [Dsus2/F#]my [Em]soul,[Dsus2] is [C]where my momma always prayed
that [Dsus2]it would go. If you're [C]reading this, if you're [Dsus2]reading this?
G11 Cmaj7 Dsus2 G~
I'm already home.
Note: There is a little bit of picking on the Dsus2 prior to the chorus and
within the chorus that you can feel out. It is basically done on the high E
string by hammering on the F# note to make the chord a solid D and then pulling
off back to a Dsus2. There is also a little extra picking in the
intro/bridge/outtro riff that is too hard for me to try to describe here. It is
mainly on the 4th string of the G11.
