Honkytonk U  Toby Keith

This is a good one for all you rhythm players:
You have to listen to get it right. If you give a quick lift and play open strings
the D and Cadd9 in the intro and the E and D on the outro it sounds pretty good, to me atleast.
Standard Tuning
Intro strumming is D, Cadd9, G, D
Verse 1
My Grand[D]mother owned a night club on the[Cadd9] Arkansas [G]Oklahoma [D]line
Mama put me on a Greyhound and I went to stay with her in the summer[A7]time
[G] [Cadd9] [G]
I'd box[D] up those empty longnecks and stack 'em in the back and make a hand
[Cadd9] [G]
[D]Then at night she'd let me sneak out of the kitchen and sit in with the band
Verse 2
[Cadd9] [G]
Y[D]es I have sacked some quartebacks and broke my share of bones along the way
I knew it wouldn't last forever semi-pro always means semi[A7]-payed
[G] [Cadd9] [G]
I started[D] climbin' drillin' rigs I'm oil field trash and proud as I can be
Then I took my songs and guitar and[Cadd9] sang 'em to a [G]man from Tennes[D]see
Chorus
[G] [Cadd9] [G]
I'v[D]e played every beer joint tavern from New York City out to Pasadena
Every corn dog fair and rodeo and sold out every basketball a[A7]rena
Like to [D]get down with my boys in Af[Cadd9]ghanistan and [G]Bahgdad City [D]too
[D] [F] [Cadd9] [G]
I [D]am a red, white, and blue blood graduate of Honkytonk U
Repeat Intro strummming
Verse 3
A [E]star can't burn forever and the [D]brightest ones will [A]someday loose their
[E]shine. But the glass won't ever be half empty in my optimistic [B7]mind
[A] [D] [A]
I'll [E]still have a song to sing and a band to turn it up and play it loud
As long as there's a bar room with a [D]corner stage and a [A]honkytonk [E]crowd
Chorus
[A] [D] [A]
I'[E]ve played every beer joint tavern from New York City out o Pasadena
Every corn dog fair and rodeo and sold out every basketball a[B7]rena
Like to [E]get down with my boys in Af[D]ghanistan and [A]Bahgdad City [E]too
[E] [G] [D] [A]
Son I[E]'m a red, white, and blue blood graduate of Honkytonk U
[E] [G] [D]
That's r[E]ight a red, white and blue blood graduate of Honkytonk U
Then finish strum out with E, D, A, E
Have Fun with it!!
