Third Week in the Chelsea  Jefferson Airplane

I'm pretty sure this is right with a few acceptions on exactly where the chord changes
are. This is a really simple song. I've played it along with the CD, and it worked out
quite nicely. This song is in the key of key of E, but I play it in D. If you want to
change it to the original key, just slap a capo on the 2nd fret.
:Third Week in the Chelsea by Jefferson Airplane:
intro
D G 4x (fingerpick) :D G Em D D A G Em D D G Em D D A G Em Bm:
[D]D [A]G [G]4x[Em] [G] [D]
[D]Sometimes I [G]feel like I am [Em]leaving life [D]behind
[D]My hands are [A]movin' [G]faster than the [Em]movement of my [D]mind
[D]Thoughts and [G]generations of my [Em]dreams of my dreams are yet [D]unborn
[D]Hope that [A]I can [G]find them 'fore my [Em]movin' gets too [Bm]worn
[D]If only [A]I could [G]live to see the [Em]dawning [G]of the [D]dawn
D G 4x
Repeat throughout song
So we go on moving trying to make this image real
Straining every nerve not knowing what we really feel
Straining every nerve ending and everybody sees
That what they read in the Rolling Stone has really come to be
And trying to avoid a taste of that reality
On an early New York mornin' a mirror in the hall
Showed to me a face I didn't know at all
Lines were drawn around a pair of eyes that opened wide
When I looked into the mouth there was nothing left inside
So I walked into the little room and whistled like a sigh
As dawn light closed around me my head was still in gear
Thinking thoughts of playing more and singing loud and clear
Trying to reach a friend somewhere and make that person smile
Maybe pull myself away from that old lonesome mile
That often comes to haunt me in the morning
[Em]All my friends keep [Bm]telling me that [A]it would be a [D]shame
To [D]break up such a [Em]grand success and [Bm]tear apart a [D]name
[Em]But all I know is [Bm]what I feel [A]whenever I'm not [D]playin'
[Em]Emptiness ain't [Bm]where it's at and neither's feeling [A]pain
Well now what is going to happen now is anybody's guess
If I can't spend my time with love I guess I need a rest
Time is getting late now and the sun is getting low
My body's getting tired of carryin' another's load
And sunshine's waiting for me a little further down the road

Doing a hammer on for the G & E strings sounds cool for that last D chord at the very
end, & here & there throughout the whole song. Please rate! Thanks! Erin (yes a girl
guitarist. Don't get your panties in a wad, we do exist.) Later folks :)
