Stab Yer Dad  Spoonboy

I noticed there wasn't ANY Spoonboy on the site! So I decided to add my tab of this song. (:
This should be pretty spot on, all chords are barre.
Only trick to remember is that the G chord is played on the 10th fret during the intro
and whenever there is no lyrics, but played on the 3rd fret with the rest of the song.
The strumming throughout the song is really straight forward and the
intro bit is a little trickier but easy to pick up if you listen to the song.
[D] [G] [D] [E] [A]
Of the t[D]hings that have made me, I coun[G]t myself lucky.
I [E]consider it fortune, thi[A]ngs like how I wasn’t ta[D]ught at a young age to
r[G]espect my elders.
[E]I thank goodness for my ab[A]sence of a father.
[G]He could have taken me out,[E] we’d have gone camping.
I [D]could have learned to wield my bo[G]dy as a weapon.
[E]These are things that I[A] won’t be missing.
[D] [G] [D] [E] [A]
[D]I remember sittin[G]g in the car with my dirt[E]y old man as he explain[A]ed
how “she has as[D]ked for it” and how “it was her[G] fault”
I’m only glad[E] I didn’t take th[A]e bait. I remember [G]telling my mother[E]
[D]It was the last time [G]I saw my fath[D]er. No re[E]grets for what e[A]lse I’ve been
[D]missing.

[G]‘Cause I’m not jealous of a well adjusted family,
[Bm]only Killing time ‘till they learn their anom[E]aly don’t help the wounded ones:
the ch[A]ildren of the vengeful fathers.
When ever[G]yone I know is still standing in the shadows of the me[Bm]n who left their mark,
I’d rather be left in the d[E]ark. o[A]h oh.
[D] [G] [D] [E] [A]
If our fat[D]hers were our ro[G]le models for god[E] and they faile[A]d us,
what does that [D]tell us about ou[G]r supposed omnipotent savior[E]?[A]
Except we’re [G]all born to fiction, dail[E]y recreated
[D]we play the roles from the sto[G]ries we learned as k[E]ids.
Who bends down? Who plays god?[A]
Is it fated that every[D] boy on this earth shou[G]ld have his head stuck [D]up his ass?[E]
We’re all just[A] like our dads. We keep le[D]arning the same s[D]hit agai[G]n.[D] [E]
And I wonder how long till i[A]t ends?
[D]I remember when my d[G]irty old man told me ho[E]w I’d grow up to be j[A]ust like him when[D] I got [G]old.
What a biza[E]rre thing to be to[A]ld, to be told
