Subject: For the Good Times
Thought I'd contribute the chords to "For The Good Times" as performed by
Ray Price. The arrangement is a little jazzier than the Kris Kristofferson
version on the site.
Ben, don't want to mess with your version, but I wanted to toss out some chord variations you might want to try to make it sound even a little more jazzy. For example, use Fm7 rather than F7; try Ebmaj7 rather than Eb. (Except in the chorus) (I see you have the Ebmaj7 in there with the E6)Your version is the best one I've seen on the net. Most are in C or G and don't have the nice maj7 and minor variations.
Don't look so (F-7) sad, (Bb7) I know it's (Eb) over. (Eb6 Ebmaj7 Eb6)
But life goes (F-7) on, and this (Bb7) old world will keep on (Eb) turning. (Eb6 Ebmaj7 Eb6)
Let just be (Ab) glad we had some (Bb7) time to spend (Eb) together.
There's no (Ab) need to watch the (F-7) bridges that we're (Bb7) burning.
Lay your (Eb) head upon my (Bb7) pillow.
Hold your warm and tender body close to (Eb) mine.
Hear the whisper of the (Eb7) raindrops blowin (Ab) soft against the (Ab-) window
(Bb7) And make believe you (F-7) love me one more (Bb7) time, (Bb7b9) for the (Eb) good times.
I'll get (F-7) along, (Bb7) you'll find (Eb) another (Eb6 Ebmaj7 Eb6)
And I'll be (F-7) here if you should (Bb7) find you ever (Eb) need me. (Eb6 Ebmaj7 Eb6)
Don't say a (Ab) word about (Bb7) tommorrow or (Eb) forever
There'll be (Ab) time enough for (F-7) sadness when you (Bb7) leave me.
