Listen To The Music   Doobie Brothers

Capo 8th fret

Intro

[F]Don't you feel it growing, day by [Bb/F]day
[F]People are getting ready for the [Dm]news
Some are [C]happy, some are [Bb]sad
Oh, we're gonna let the music [F]play        [Bb/F]

[F]What the people need is a way to make them smile[Bb/F]
[F]It ain't so hard to do if you know [Dm]how
Got to get a [C]message, get it on [Bb]through
Lord, now mamma, don't you ask me [F]why
Chorus
     Oohoh[Dm7]ooh, listen to the [Bb]music
     Oohoh[Dm7]ooh, listen to the [Bb]music
     Oohoh[Dm7]ooh, listen to the [Bb]music
     All the [G]time [Bb]

Well I know, you know better, everything I say
Leave me in the country for a day
We'll be happy and we'll dance
Oh, we're gonna dance the blues away

And if I'm feeling good to you and you're feeling good to me
There ain't nothing we can do or say
Feeling good, feeling fine,
Oh baby, let the music play

Chorus

[F]Like a lazy flowing [Eb]river, [Bb/F]surrounding castles in the [F]sky
[F]And the crowd is growing [Eb]bigger,
Listening for the happy sounds
Gonna have to let them go----

Chorus

Cool 9th fret is hectic though - played in the 7th and it sounds ok as well

No need for a capo. Play song in E. For intro and fils barre fret 9 but leave bottom E string open, hammer from F# on A string to G#. Once you get the groove bring in the F#m7 hammered and pulled off keeping the barre throughout. Let open E ring on. Once you feel it you'll get it. Pete

Moved capo to 9th fret to place song in the key of E which is how the Doobies performed it.
