LYIN EYES  Eagles

[G]City girls just seem to find out [C]early,
[Am]how to open doors with just a [D7]smile.
A [G]rich old man and she won't have to [C]worry;
she'll [Am]dress up all in [C]lace and go in [G]style.
[G]Late at night a big old house gets [C]lonely;
I [Am]guess every form of refuge has its [D7]price.
[G]And it breaks her heart to think her love is [C]only
Given [Am]to a man with [C]hands as cold as [G]ice.
So she [G]tells him she must go out for the [C]evening
To c[Am]omfort an old friend who's feeling [D7]down.
But [G]he knows where she's goin' as she's [C]leavin';
She's [Am]headed for that [C]cheatin' side of [G]town.
(Chorus)
--------------------------------------

You can't [G]hide [C] your lyin' [G]eyes, and your [Em]smile [Bm] is a thin dis[Am]guise.[D]
I thought by [G]now you'd real[C]ize [A] there [Am]ain't no way to [D]hide those lying [G]eyes.
--------------------------------------

So she [G]tells him she must go out for the [C]evening
To c[Am]omfort an old friend who's feeling [D7]down.
But [G]he knows where she's goin' as she's [C]leavin';
She's [Am]headed for that [C]cheatin' side of [G]town.
[G]On the other side of town a boy is [C]waiting
[Am]with stormy eyes and dreams no-one could [D7]steal
She[G] drives on throught the night antici[C]pating
Cos she [Am]makes him feel the [C]way she used to [G]feel
[G]She rushes to his arms they fall [C]together
She [Am]whispers that its only for a [D7]while
[G]She says that soon she'll be coming back [C]forever
[Am]She pulls away and [C]leaves him with a [G]smile
(Chorus)
She [G]gets up and pours herself a [C]strong one
And [Am]stares out at the stars up in the [D7]sky.
A[G]nother night, it's gonna be a [C]long one;
She [Am]draws the shade and [C]hangs her head to [G]cry.
And she [G]wonders how it ever got this [C]crazy
[Am]She thinks about a boy she knew in [D7]school
Did she [G]get tired or did she just get [C]lazy
[Am]She's so far gone, she [C]feels just like a [G]fool
[G]My, oh my, you sure know how to ar[C]range things;
You [Am]set it up so well, so careful[D7]ly.
Ain't it [G]funny how your new life didn't [C]change things;
You're [Am]still the same old [C]girl you used to [G]be.
(Chorus)
There aint no way to hide your lyin eyes
Honey you cant hide your lyin eyes

All lyrics follow. Chords are similar as originally posted, but some more pattern repetition for easier learning.

Lyin’ Eyes
G Gmaj7 C
City girls just seem to find out early

Am C D
How to open doors with just a smile

G Gmaj7 C
A rich old man and she won't have to worry

Am C G
She'll dress up all in lace and go in style

Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess ev'ry form of refuge has its price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is only
Given to a man with hands as cold as ice

So she tells him she must go out for the evening
to comfort an old friend who's feelin' down
But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin'
She is headed for the cheatin' side of town

G C G
You can't hide your lyin' eyes
G Em A7 Am D
And your smile is a thin disguise
G Gmaj7 C A
I thought by now you'd realize
Am D G
There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes

On the other side of town a boy is waiting
With fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal
She drives on through the nice anticipating
'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel

She rushes to his arms, they fall together
She whispers that it's only for awhile
She swears that soon she'll be comin' back forever
She pulls away and leaves him with a smile

You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide you lyin' eyes

She gets up and pours herself a strong one
And stares out at the stars up in the sky
Another night, it's gonna be a long one
She draws the shade and hangs her head to cry

She wonders how it ever got this crazy
She thinks about a boy she knew in school
Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?
She's so far gone she feels just like a fool

My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things
You set it up so well, so carefully
Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things
You're still the same old girl you used to be

You can't hide your lyin eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes

Guys/gals . . .

Please do not develop a bad habit on this song--they're hard to break. Well, for me anyway.

Although, it is close, this is NOT the correct chord progression.

Intro: G, Gmaj7, C, Am, D7, G

(G) City girls just (Gmaj7) seem to find out (C) early (Am) how to open (D) doors with just a (G) smile.

There are more changes, but that was bugging me.
