LONG BLACK VEIL  Misc. Traditional

[G]Ten years ago on a cold dark night
There was s[D]omeone [D7]shot 'neath the [C]town hall [G]light
F[G]ew were at the scene but they all agree
That the [D]man did the s[D7]hooting looked a [C]lot like [G]me
The judge said "Son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else you won't have to die"
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife
(Chorus)
She walk[C]s these [G]hills in a l[C]ong bl[D7]ack ve[G]il
She visi[C]ts my [G]grave while the [C]night [D7]winds wa[G]il
Nobody [B7]knows, [C]nobody [G]sees,
[A7]Nobody k[D7]nows but [G]me
The scaffold was high, and eternity near
She stood in the crowd, but she shed not a tear
But sometimes late at night, when the cold wind moans
She visits my grave, and she cries o'er my bones
(Chorus)

The chords are really off... plus only half of these lyrics are correct. The best version on here is by Country Gentlemen or Johnny Cash
