IM A MAN YOU DONT MEET EVERY DAY   Pogues

style="COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 11px;">Song   : I'M A MAN YOU DON'T MEET EVERY DAY
Artist : The Pogues
Author : (Trad. Arr. The Pogues)
Album : Rum Sodomy and the Lash (1985)

      G D G C
Oh my name is Jock Stewart I'm a canny gun man
      G D G D
And a roving young fellow I've been

So be easy and free when you're drinking with me
I'm a man you don't meet every day

I have acres of land I have men at command
I have always a shilling to spare

So be easy ....

So come fill up your glasses of brandy and wine
Whatever it costs I will pay

So be easy ...

Well I took out my dog and him I did shoot
All down in the county Kildare

So be easy ...

I took the lyrics from the back of the album
but the deep meaning of the song (if it has one)
is still quite obscure to me. By the way ... what
       does 'canny gun' mean?

Soydonaldo (report)

I think maybe he say I'm a canny gaun' man. A shortened version of gaunt "thin and craggy".

I'm a roaring young blade
and a piper by trade
and there's many a tune I can play
So be easy...

Your last verse
I went out with my dog
and my gun for a shoot
all along the banks of the Spey

So be easy...
