[G]HEADIN FOR THE TRAINS;
[G]FEELIN NEARLY [G]FADED AS MY [D7]JEANS,
[D7]BOBBY THUMBED A [D7]DIESEL DOWN
[D7]JUST BEFORE IT [D7]RAINED;
[D7]TOOK US ALL THE [D7]WAY TO NEW OR[G]LEANS.
[G]I TOOK MY HARP[G]ON OUT OF MY [G]DIRTY RED BAN[G]DANNA
AND WAS BLOWIN' [G]SAD WHILE [G7]BOBBY SANG THE [C]BLUES;
[C]_ _ WITH THEM [C]WINDSHIELD WIPERS [C]SLAPPIN TIME
AND [G]BOBBY'S CLAPPIN [G]HANDS WE FINALLY
[D7]SANG EVERY [D7]SONG THAT DRIVER [G]KNEW
[C]FREEDOM'S JUST AN[C]OTHER WORD FOR NOT[G]HIN LEFT TO [G]LOSE,
[D7]NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH [D7]NOTHIN' BUT IT'S [G]FREE;
[C]FEELIN' GOOD WAS [C]EASY, LORD WHEN [G]BOBBY SANG THE [G]BLUES;
[D7]AND FEELIN WAS [D7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [D7]ME,
[D7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [D7]ME AND BOBBY MC[G]GEE
[G]_ _ FROM THE [G]COAL MINES OF KEN[G]TUCKY
TO THE [G]CALIFORNIA [G]SUN,
[G]BOBBY SHARED THE [G]SECRETS OF MY [D7]SOUL;
[D7]STANDIN' RIGHT BE[D7]SIDE ME, LORD
[D7]THROUGH EVERYTHING I [D7]DONE,
[D7]AND EVERY NIGHT SHE [D7]KEPT ME FROM THE C[G]OLD.
[G]_ _ _ THEN [G]SOMEWHERE NEAR SA[G]LINAS, LORD,
I [G]LET HER SLIP A[G]WAY
[G]LOOKIN' FOR THE [G7]HOME I HOPE SHE'LL [C]FIND;
[C]_ AND I'D TRADE [C]ALL OF MY TO[C]MORROWS
FOR A [G]SINGLE YESTERDAY
[D7]HOLDIN BOBBY'S [D7]BODY NEXT TO MIN[G]E
[C]FREEDOM'S JUST AN[C]OTHER WORD FOR NOT[G]HIN LEFT TO [G]LOSE,
[D7]NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH [D7]NOTHIN' BUT IT'S [G]FREE;
[C]FEELIN' GOOD WAS [C]EASY, LORD WHEN [G]BOBBY SANG THE [G]BLUES;
[D7]AND FEELIN WAS [D7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [D7]ME,
[D7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [D7]ME AND BOBBY MC[G]GEE

ME AND BOBBY MCGEE
BY KRIS KRISTOFFERSON
I am not sure which album this song is on, but I have always considered it
a classic. I have been playing it this way for sometime, and it sounds OK.
I use a capo on the second fret so that the song can be played in the simple
keys of G and A.
Dwight
[E]Busted flat in Baton Rouge and heading for the trains
feeling nearly faded as my[B] jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
took us all the way to New[E] Orleans
I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
and was blowing sad while Bobby sang the[A] Blues
with them windshield wipers slapping time
and[E] Bobby clapping hands we finally[B] sang up every song[E] that driver knew
[A]Freedom is just another word for[E] nothing left to lose
[B]Nothing ain't worth nothing but it's[E] free
[A]Feeling good was easy Lord when[E] Bobby sang the Blues
[B]Feeling good was good enough for me
good enough for me and Bobby[E] McGee
[F#]>From the coal mines of Kentucky to the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my[C#] soul
Standing right beside me Lord through everything I done
Every night she kept me from the[F#] cold
Then somewhere near Salinas Lord I let her slip away
searching for the home I hope she'll[B] find
And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a[F#] single yesterday
[C#]holding Bobby's body next to[F#] mine
[B]Freedom is just another word for[F#] nothing left to lose
[C#]Nothing left is all she left for[F#] me
[B]Feeling good was easy Lord when[F#] Bobby sang the Blues
Buddy that was good enough for me
good enough for me and Bobby[F#] McGee
(Fade out with)
La de da de da de da da La de da de da
La de da da me and Bobby[C#] McGee
La de da de da de da da La de da de da
La de da da me and Bobby[F#] McGee
