The Accident Things Could Be Worse John Prine
[G]Last night I saw an accident
on the [C]corner of Third and [G]Green.
[G]Two cars collided and I got excited
just [D]being part of that scene.
It was [G]Mrs. Tom Walker, and her beautiful daughter,
Pamela, was driving the [C]car.
They got hit by a man in a [G]light blue sedan,
who had [D]obviously been to a [G]bar.
CHORUS:
They [C]don't know how lucky they [G]are.
They [C]could have ran into that [D]tree,
got [G]struck by a bolt of [C]lightning
and [G]raped by a [D]minori[G]ty.
[G]It was a four way stop dilemma.
We [C]all arrived the same [G]time.
I yielded to the man to the right of me
and he [D]yielded it right back to mine.
Well, the [G]yield went around and around and around
till Pamela finally [C]tried
just then the man in the [G]light blue sedan
hit [D]Pamela's passenger [G]side.
(CHORUS)
[G]Pamela hit her head on the mirror
Mrs. [C]Walker got a bump on the [G]knee
The man hit himself in the face and said
[D]"Why does this happen to me?"
Then the [G]neighbors came out and they gathered about
saying, "Hey! Who hit who any[C]way?"
And the police arrived at a [G]quarter to five
and [D]pronounced all the victims O[G]kay.
