Rebecca Lynn  Bryan White

[G]Rebecca L[D]ynn, grew [C]up in Carolina  [Am]
Half a mile from Tucker Cherry's f[C]arm   [D]      [G]
A quiet g[D]irl, with g[C]reen eyes full of fire  [Am]
Her daddy's pride and all her mama's j[C]oy   [D]      [G]
Rebecca L[D]ynn, bec[C]ame my heart's desire  [Am]
Long about the start of second gr[C]ade   [D]      [G]
Mrs. R[D]osenbloom l[C]et me sit beside her
So [Am]we passed notes and a[D]fter school we p[G]layed   [D]
Singin'R[G]ing ar[Em]ound they rosy, p[C]ocket full of dr[D]eams and posies  [G]
Patty cake a-b[Em]aker's man, t[C]ag you're it and k[D]ick the can
I th[G]ink I hear my m[Em]ama c[C]allin', gotta go     [D]
Man I loved her s[G]o
High school days, me and Becky learnin'
What it really means to be in love
Give and take, holdin' back for heaven's sake
Fightin' for a week then makin' up
I said, "Please, Becky won't you marry me?"
Prom night in my car out by the curb
She was so surprised, first she laughed and then she cried
And somewhere in my heart I'm sure I heard

Ring around they rosy, pocket full of dreams and posies
Patty cake a-baker's man, tag you're it and kick the can
Mama flashed the porch light for me, gotta go
Man I loved her so

Bridge:
When love is wrong it dies, and that's the way it goes
But when it's right, you know love grows

Laura Jean born in Tennessee
That's a common little miracle I know
But for me and Becky Lynn, she's the dream that started when we
Fell in love so many years ago

Singin'Ring around they rosy, pocket full of dreams and posies
Patty cake a-baker's man, tag you're it and kick the can
I think I hear your mama callin', gotta go
Man I loved her so

NOTES:
*There is a key change after the first chorus (it goes up to A) but I could
never sing it that high, so I've left everything in the key of G, which is
enough of a stretch as it is!
*Please let me know of any corrections!
*Also, let me know of any other songs you'd like the chords to...I enjoy the
challenge of figuring them out!

These are not really the chords. The main riff is built around the classic progression G - D/F# - Em7. The next part features Am7 and D7.

It's an easy song to play once you get the right chords fingered up - but it will take some time to master at the beginning.

Tip for the key change. Start the song with capo on the Zero fret. After first chorus reclamp on Capo 2. That's the way its performed live and it's a cool trick!
