[F#]Well dust off your thinking caps
Solar powered [B7]plastic plants
Pretty pictures of [F#]things we ate
We are only [B7]what we hate
But in the long [C#7]run we have found
Silent films are [B7]full of sound
Inaudibly [F#]free       [C#7]
[F#]Slow down everyone
You're [Bb]moving too fast
[B]Frames can't catch you when
You're [G#]moving like that
[F#]Inaudible melodies
Of [Bb]narrational strategies
[B]Unobtrusive tones
Help to [G#]notice nothing but the zone
Of [F#]visual relevancy
[Bb]Frame-lines tell me what to see
[B]Chopping like an axe
So maybe [G#]Eisenstein should just relax
[F#]Slow down everyone
You're [Bb]moving too fast
[B]
Frames can't catch you when
You're [G#]moving like that

2. Middle Man

After 5 shows of Jack in 7 days I manged to see a few errors in my tabs, one of them was in
one of the main chords for this song.. look at the chords in the intro and verse for the
difference... the Em, is not and Em until the chorus kind of bit, it is actually an Em9th or
Em7th or something.. as shown in the chord chart below... enjoy..

3. Posters

This is an easy song if you don't play it right. If you want to play it just
like Jack Johnson, you'll have a little harder time, but you've looked up the
right tab. It's a little difficult, but I tried to make it as easy as possible
by putting in my own side notes and stuff. I'm positive that all of it is correct.
If I did make any mistakes, or anyone has suggestions, please email me. Now,
ay attention, you may be surprised.

These are all the parts to the song. If you listen to the music, you'll get the
hang of it and be able to put in the little quirks that Jack does. This is the
basic, but correct way to play. You can do a lot with it.

Here's the complete song, with the lyrics.

Intro: Intro Parts 1, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 2, 4

Verse 1:
(Repeat Verse Part 1 twice, then start singing)

(Verse Part 1 repeats until specified)

Lookin' at himself
And wishin' he was someone else
Because the posters on the wall
They don't look like him at all.

So he ties it up, he tucks it in
He pulls it back and gives a grin
Laughin' at himself
Because he knows he ain't loved at all.

He gets his
(Verse Part 2a)
Courage from the can
It makes him feel like a man
Because he's lovin' all the ladies
But the ladies don't love him at
(Verse Part 2b)
all.

[And](Verse Part 2a)
When he's not drunk
He's only stuck on himself
And then he has the nerve
To say he needs a decent
(Verse Part 2b)
Girl

Verse 2:

(Verse Part 1)
Lookin' at herself
And wishin' she was someone else
Because the body of the dolly
Don't look like hers at all

So she straps it on, she sucks it in,
She throws it up, and gives a grin,
Laughin' at herself
Because she knows she's ain't that at all.

(Verse Part 2a)
Caught up in the trends
Well, the truth began to bend
And the next thing you know, man
There just ain't no truth left at
(Verse Part 2b)
All.

'Cuz when the
(Verse Part 2a)
Pretty girl walks
She walks so proud
And when the pretty girl laughs
Oh man, she laughs so
(Verse Part 2b)
Loud.

Outro:

Version of another person,
Check out my outsides,
There ain't nothin' in here

Well I'm a
Superficial, systematic,
Music, television addict,
Check out my outsides,
There ain't nothin' in

(Verse Part 2a)
Here comes another one,
Just like the other one,
Lookin' at himself and wishin'
He was someone else,
Because the

They don't uh look uh like uh him.

He Pulls it back and gives a grin,

Laughin' at himself
Because he knows he ain't loved at all.
He knows he ain't loved at all.

Where he starts Verse Part 2b is difficult, so I'll just go through it.

Because the-

And so on.

When I was learning this song, this part took me the longest. It's tough. Every
note is above the beginning of it's corresponding word, like you play the A string
on the 11th while you say "the". This part is perfect, I promise, and you can play
it just like Jack of you follow exactly.

Enjoy,
Todd

5. Flake

I saw D.Yamaki's version of the tab. It was good, but it was somewhat confusing,
so I thought I'd make it more easy to understand. Unfortunately, I don't know the
slide guitar part melody for the interlude, so if anyone figures it out before me,
then please e-mail me.

I tried to show the strumming pattern as well as I could but, Listen to the song for
the strumming pattern.

The chords used:
     [Dm]        [F]       [Bb]       [C5]        [A]       [Fm]        [C#5]      [B5]
E-----5------1---------------------5-------1-------------------|
B-----6------1---------------------5-------1-------------------|
G-----7------2-------3------5------6-------1------6-----4------|
D-----7------3-------3------5------7-------3------6-----4------|
A-----5------3-------1------3------7-------3------4-----2------|
E------------1---------------------5-------1-------------------|

NOTE: For the Dm chord you may use the basic chord in the first position but
Jack Johnson plays it in the fifth position.
The "x" is in the place where he mutes/"chops" the strings.

So the song in tablature goes like this:
INTRO/VERSE:
     [Dm]                      [F]                                         [Bb]
E--5--5-x---5---5-5---x---1--1-x---1---1-1-x--------x---------x-

D-----3--3-x----3----3-3----x----5-------*--|
A-----3--3-x----3----3-3----x----3----------|
E-----1--1-x----1----1-1----x---------------|

NOTE: When going into the chorus, (the last verse line) the verse goes like this
     [Dm]                         [F]                            [Bb]
E--5--5-x---5---5-5---x---1--1-x---1---1-1-x---------x---------x-

Okay, another tab i am changing slightly... simplifying the hard parts, taking out
the parts i had in my tab that were actually played by the bass, and adding a different
version of the chorus which is what Jack plays live rather than the little country soundng
lick on the album... enjoy...

special tab sign => and )'s mean the notes are quickly muted..!!

INTRO

----7/97---4/74---3/53---2/42~--------------
----7/97---4/74---3/53---2/42~--------------

VERSE (riff 1)

|----7)----------4)--|
|----7)----------4)--|

VERSE (riff 2)

|----9)------2)--|
|----9)------2)--|
|.--10)------3)-.|
|.--11)------4)-.|
|---11)------4)--|
|--9-------2-----|

on the last repetition of this verse riff use FILL 2 from below after the
F# bass note to move back to verse riff 1...

some examples of fills that can replace the G# chord
FILL 1 FILL 2 FILL 3
--------------------|-----------------|----------------------
--------------------|-----------------|----------------------
--------------------|-----------------|----------------------

----------9---------|-----------------|----------9-----------
--4--9/11---11p9--7-|--4--9/11-7-9-7--|--4--9/11----------7--

so just fuck around with those, and any others are just variations on that anyhow...

then the fun part... the CHORUS...

----0~--0-0-----0~---0---0---0----2---2-2-----2---2---2---2-
----0~----------------------------2-------2h4---2-----------
----1~------4h6----4---2---1------3-----------------4---3---
----2~----------------------------4-------------------------
----2~----------------------------4-------------------------
--0-0~--------------------------2-2-------------------------

A much easier version of the chorus can be played, like Jack does it when he plays live..
----0)----------0)----2)-----------2)--
----0)----------0)----2)-----------2)--
----1)----------1)----3)-----------3)--

then just descending major bar chords with the root on the 6th string
(ie the E shape)

CHORD: B / G# / F# / E x3
FRET: 7 4 2 0
then
CHORD: B / G# / G ~~~
FRET: 7 4 3 and hold

in case you don't know the terms above the shape for the B (7th fret) is

e|-7-|
b|-7-| So just start with that, then move it down to the 4th fret etc.

d|-9-|

[A]A billion people died on the [Bm]news tonight     [A]

[A]Why don't the newscasters cry when they read about pe[Bm]ople who die
[A]At least they could be decent enough to put just a t[Bm]ear in their eyes
It's just make believe  [C#m]
You cant believe everything you see
[Bm]So baby close your eyes to the lullabies [D]          [Dm]
On the news[A] tonight             [Bm]               [A]

The picking pattern is as follows:

---2--2--2-----3--3--3----------|
----2--2--------4--4------------| etc.
-----2--2--------4--4-----------|
--0-------0---1-------1---------|

This is my first tab, so go easy on me if you notice any flaws.
Listen to the song for the timing. Thanks K-C, and Chris for getting
