Terrapin Station, Pt. 1  Grateful Dead

[G]Let my inspiration [Dm]flow in token [Am]rhyme, [G]suggesting rhythm,
[F]That will not f[C]orsake me, till my [F]tale is told and [C]don[C]e.[F]  [G]  [C]  [Dm7]
[G]While the firelight's [Dm]aglow, strange shadows [Am]from the [G]flames will
[F]grow,
[F]Till things we've never [C]seen will seem [F]familiar.
Same pattern for the following verses:

[G]Shadows of a sailor,[Dm] forming winds [Am]both foul[G] and fair all [F]swarm.
Down in Carlisle,[C] he loved[F] a lady many years [C]ago.[F]  [G]  [C]  [Dm7]
[G]Here beside him stands a[Dm]man, a sol[Am]dier [G]from the [G]looks of [F]him,
Who came through many [C]fights, but lost at love.[F]

While the storyteller speaks, a door within the fire creaks;
Suddenly flies open, and a girl is standing there.
Eyes alight, with glowing hair, all that fancy paints as fair,
She takes her fan and throws it, in the lion's den.

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.
The sailor gave at least a try, the soldier being much too wise,
Strategy was his strength, and not disaster.

Here's the solo. Sorry, scratch that. Please, will somebody tab the solo?

The sailor, coming out again, the lady fairly leapt at him.
That's how it stands today. You decide if he was wise.
The storyteller makes no choice. Soon you will not hear his voice.
His job is to shed light, and not to master.

Interlude (thingy) goes F for a while, Cmaj7 for a while, C7, then:

[F]Since the end is never [Dm]told, we[C7] pay the teller off in [C]gold,
[F]In hopes he will return, but [Dm]he can[E]not be bought or sold.

Then:

[E]Inspi[A]ration, move me [D]brightly. [E]Light the song with [A]sense and color;
[A]Hold away despair, [E]more than [A]this I will not [E]ask.
[E]Faced with [F#m]mysteries [A]dark and [D]va[C#m]st, [Bm]   [E]statements just seem [A]vain
at [D]la[C#m]st. [Bm]
[A]Some [Bm]rise, [A]some [Bm]fall, [A]some [Bm]climb, to get to [A]terrapin.

[E]Counting [A]stars by candle[E]light, all are [F#m]dim but [A]one is [D]br[C#m]ight[Bm];
[E]The spiral light of [A]Venus, rising [D]first and shining [E]best,
[E]On, [A]from the northwest [E]corner, of a [F#m]brand new [A]crescent [D]mo[C#m]on, [Bm]
[E]While crickets and [A]cicadas [D]si[A]ng[E], a rare and different tune,
[E]Terrapin [B]sta[A]tion.
[E]In the shadow [B]of the [E]moon, terrapin [B]sta[A]tion.
[A]And I know we'll [D]be there [E]soon, terrapin:
[E]I can't figure out, terrapin, if it's the end or beginning, terrapin,
[E]But the train's put it's brakes on, terrapin,
[E]And the whistle is screaming, [D]terrapin.
That's all I have for now. If anyone wants to add any of the licks, the solo, or the REST OF THE SONG, I would much appreciate.
-17 Years of Dead-head-ness (that's as long as I've been around)
