i find that when im pickin i dont think about how much pressure or how tight to hold the pick it actually moves between my fingers and switches posistion and i find myself playing with the opposite end and i reposistion it to the right end while i pick i think i hold it kind of loose so my first advice to hold it tighter was kind of tongue in cheek its true the more you play it becomes less of an issue stick a few picks in your pickguard so in case you drop one grab another

hold on to them tighter

danagle read uperkilts last post it conferms what i believe to be true so record away and dont worry about it

if you have arrived at the point where contracts are required all the percentages will be spelled out before you sign, most artists or bands have an attourny represent them who specializes in artists rights and royalities

i think there are a lot of songs in public domain that require no permission, unless you earn a great deal of money from recording the songs you want it is highly unlikely you will be sued add to it the songs will not be played through any media for all purposeses you are invisable record what you want just dont distribute them or reproduce them en mass

i have a dobro houndog electric i used it on the song "sloppy joes" on myspace profile page the dobro has a gutsey raw sound for blues or you can play mellow by adjusting the eq on your amp or recorder it can be played without the pickup and recorded with a mic which is what i do it gives me a greater spectrum of control through my boss digital recorder.

bree i think theres allready a post by guitardocphil on the same topic it dont make sense to repeat

as long as your recording them and dont intend to market them in great number i dont think you will run into any trouble if you record them and sell copies at your gigs thats a different matter you would have to obtain permission from the copyright owner and that may cost money for the library of congress copyright office to do a search i dont see the harm in recording them for the reasons you stated but thats my opinion mabey someone else can offer more info

you can make your own chart by starting with the 6th string open and chromatically progress in half steps (frets) and chart each note all the way to the 12th fret after that it starts over remember to include the inharmonic equivalants ( f$ gb ) ect.. proceed to the 5th string and do the same them 4th 3rd 2nd 1st(its the same as the 6th) then on paper witha a ruler draw 6 verticle lines to represent the strings then draw 12 horizontal lines to represent the frets and create your fretboard adding the notes for each fret and there inharmonic equivalents
