hi mojo, welcome to chordie.

nice song. i found the only way i could get the chords to fit was as a waltz. i particularly like the way you go to Em for the chorus, i guess that would put the song into the key of G? the Cminor7th threw me at the start.

try and get your head around chopro to make it "all purdy like" it's a bit of a fiddle to start but when you get into it, it will come naturally.

very nice, keep em coming

anyway, i hope we're friends now? roll

hang on a minute there Bill, i was not criticizing just trying to be humorous. i love piano/keyboards and was trying or failing to support your point, eg; piano is not strummed yet it has strings, and the strings are thumped but is not a drum!!!! does it matter? it makes music by playing the strings and (unless it's me playing it) very nice music too.

i'm sorry if my post came over as me criticizing your post, it was not meant that way.

i guess no-one really gets my sense of humour. maybe it's me that needs to bow out

the clue is the name on the tin....CHORDIE... if it plays chords....

if the site was called "strummie" then that might be a different matter

just my take on it

hi joey,

my condolences. just to say that i attended a friends funeral two weeks ago, and after the sadness, the tears and the interment, we all went out and celebrated his life, though i cant imagine how i'd feel if it was my wife.

i tend to write a lot of "songs" that don't make it past the first verse. so i keep them in what i call my "slush pile" and when i'm stuck for a line or verse or chord sequence i check out my slush pile. not that i'm saying this song is no good...keep working on it and you'll get there

hi grah, i've got a peavy bandit 112 which i've had since noah got sea sick! and i have to say it's durable (it has to be with all the humping into backs of vans and cars) so if the line 6 is as good then you're onto a winner.

hi grah, terrific piece, i gave it a quick strum, so what i sang maybe totally different from what you have in mind, but when i got to the part; "with eloquence and pride" i exchanged your D for Em. only a thought and i may be way off...but i thought i'd mention it.

i use bright orange, red, yellow and even white but during battlefield conditions (on stage with the lights dim) you cant even find your bum with both hands....well i cant anyway! it's lucky my FX pedals have lights sometimes.

i had an eko 12 string back in the 70's. it was a thin body but had a lovely sound but very quiet. i traded it in for a bass guitar so i could join a band that happened to want a bassist. i traded that in for a wilson bass which i still have. i kept breaking the G string on the eko, then i found out it's a common fault with 12 stringers....anyone know why that is?

i got a similar one for christmas called Hudl 2, it's an 8 inch screen. the guy in the shop said it was as good as an i-pad with the added advantage that the aps are free! it's working great so far, but you don't get the blue lines under links, still working on that one. good otherwise

hi zorrotm, i had a quick look through youtube and there are a shed full of songs called "my heart belongs to you" by various artists. you will have to give more of a clue like a link to the version you want. sorry phill

more sad news, one of the most distinctive voices of recent times, Joe Cocker, passed away (i think) today aged 70. he made his name with "help from my friends" and more recently "up where we belong"

RIP Joe

anyone notice he's a lefty?

your wish is my command

Bountyhunters Song (Take All My Money And Run).Undefined

[D] You can take all my money and [A] run.-[D-A]

You wont [D] get very far with that [A] rusty old gun.-[D-A]

[G] Hide out in New Orleans, [Bm] arrive but wont leave.

It's a [Em] long way to there from here.

To [A] get away from me.

[D] You may think you're immune to it but [A] watch my lips.-[D-A]

You may [D] hide in dark alleyways but [A] you wont escape.-[D-A]

It [G] only takes a second to [Bm] take you down.

I'm [Em] really going to miss not [A] seeing you around.

(SOLO ; G-A-D|G-A-D|Em-G-Bm| C-G-D)

[D] I really cant allow you to [A] make a fool of me.-[D-A]

[D] I'll have to make a statement for [A] all the world to see.-[D-A]

[G] Nobody walks in my life, [Bm] nobody walks away.

There's [Em] got to be a cost my friend and [A] you have got to pay.

[Em] I waited an age for you, but [D] you never showed.

In the [C] cold and the darkness, I [G] waited some more.

Held my [Am] phone in my hand, but [A] you never rang.

So you're [D] gone?

[D] You can take all my money and you can [A] run.-[D-A]

You wont [D] get very far with that [A] rusty old gun.-[D-A]

[G] Hide out in New Orleans, [Bm] arrive but wont leave.

It's a [Em] long way to there from here.

To [A] get away from me.

And [Em] sooner or later it'll all come [D] back on you.

And [C] sooner or later it'll [G] happen to you.

[Am] Someone who owes so much, [A] lets you down.

Then they're [D] gone.

You can [G] take all my [A] money and [D] run.

You can [G] take all my [A] money and [D] run.

You wont [Em] get very [G] far I'll be [Bm] right on your tail.

You can [C] spend all my [G] money in [D] jail.

Fair point, Ed, bridges and chorus's serve the same end, to break up and give the song a counterpoint. Listening to a new song for the first time, all you remember after is the hook or chorus. The hook can just as easily be a riff as on wonderful tonight or Something from the Beatles, written interestingly about the same lady. More, interestingly both are riff led and contain a great bridge.

My favourite is V2. Jim's post said rock and roll, so I went that way first. When I played it on piano later I realised the slower blues version suited the song (in my opinion) better. I could be wrong, give your opinions please.
