hi keepit, velcommen, no i'm welsh not german. chordians is what we've been calling ourselves for quite a while now. there used to be a chordians youtube? page for recordings involving two or more chordians, i wonder if it's still going ...roger?

hi doug, i like the line " the nature of man is to learn from his mistakes" may i remind you of "the bomb?" russia is heading back to pre glasnost days and the middle east is erupting. obviously the only thing man is learning is how to kill more efficiently.
as townsend said "hope i die before i get old" the way things are going we wont have a choice....

when i saw all the old news real stuff, then the stories behind them it made me real mad.
i've always hated the "old families" that have country estates and own banks and built up the family fortune by using the poor commoners to toil in their sweat shops and die in their wars. it's all buisness and profits to them.
i'm not a communist or a revolutionary, but i believe in sharing the wealth and peace and love; "you may say i'm a dreamer....am i the only one?" almost a john lennon quote

The first world war broke out 100 years ago this week, I've watched TV programmes showing the horrors, mistakes and the general mis-management and stupidity of the generals. How they sent the men under their command to die to make themselves look like the new Alexander. Many men pannicked, but waiting for them behind the lines were men with revolvers with orders to "shoot the cowards" Others were hanged or faced the firing squad. In recent years many have been pardoned, bit late, a hunderd years too late. I am also questioning the motives of the governments and buissnessmen concerned. There is always profit in war, the only losers are the combatants.
1914-18. Honour or Greed.
Far in the distance, over the horizon.
Flashes in the night, followed by the booming.
Hear the shells flying high overhead.
Sometimes they fall nearby.
Friends and comrades laying dead.
Over there in no-mans-land where machine guns hold sway.
Lay dead and broken soldiers in potholes for a grave.
Dreaded sound; the whistle, signals “up and over, boys”
Bullets fly like blankets, cut down soldiers as they rise.
Before them wait the enemy, guns are spitting fire.
Behind them waits the sergeant; revolver set and primed.
They stand there on the edge, they know.
They're damned if they do.
And damned if they don't.
If the Bosh don't get you.
The sergeant will.
Miles away behind the lines.
Where enemy bombs cant reach.
Deep entrenched the generals drink their brandy's and their teas.
They send their men to “do or die”.
“Their duty for the king”.
And any man that fails to rise.
Will die the cowards way.
The whistle blows the soldiers rise.
To hide their fear, the battle cry.
Mortars falling, bullets flying.

i was walking around swansea today in the glorious sunshine (shocker huh?) i was surprized to see so many buskers, a guy playing sax, and another playing guitar to backing tracks with a vocal on!!!!? the guy was playing a little rhythm and some lead but no vocals...never seen that before...it takes all sorts...i supose?

hi grah, same here, i started at 8.30 last night and played through to 11.15, all by my big self. for once i was happy with the sound coming from my speakers, and a booking at a wedding from the gig made me quite happy. lucky for me only a 1 hour drive home then down the local by 1 AM for a lager or two (or four!) it was so hot though sweating like the proverbial, spose it keeps the weight down?

as the guy in the shop told me "the 58's a unidirectional (you can still be heard form the sides) the 57's got to be head on, which is aparently why rock singers use them. i move around too much, i'd miss most of my vocals. move my head without moving my legs that is...thought i'd clear that up

i was in school with a guy that turned out to be a music teacher later on in life, but during the 70's when i decided i wanted to play bass he gave me a great tip (he played double bass in a jazz band at the time) he said less is more.
undoubtedly john entwistle was one of the worlds greatest bassists along with chris squire of yes, you play your instrument to compliment the music whether it be bass or any other instrument. as the who were a three piece and townsend was not one of the best guitarists or kieth moon a steady timekeeper, the part he played needed to be almost a lead instrument, a role he played well.
i cant imagine "yesterday" being played with an entwistle riff banging away.

claw finger is a really baddie if your a guitar player, where the pinkies mainly curl in, and it's attributed to the vikings believe it or not? i've got arthur in my knees and toes and some at the top and bottom of my spine, makes bending to adjust FX pedals during a gig very painful. thankfully, though i have stiff fingers occasionally so that i have to pull them till they click, i've not had too many probs with the old digits
