Hey Tyger ,
If it was made in Korea , It's doubtfull that it's a Harmony ... The old Harmonys were all made in Chicago , and Silvertone did not make anything of their own ... Silvertones were all made by Harmony , Kay or some of their better electrics were built by Danalectro ... The newer Harmonys are made in China ... Don't know if this helps ...

Ha Ha Ha ,
I'm from the " Billy Joel " school ... In fact the only tune I play on the harp , is " Piano Man " ... Love that tune ... Back in the early seventies , I used to hang out in a lttle bar not far from where I lived and every time that song came on the jukebox , for some reason , the place would go all quiet with everyone listening ... Probably the reason that I still love that tune ... I remember a while back , I was playing a solo at the VFW here in town ... I did that tune and my wife happened to be by the bar , and when I finished she overheard some guy say , " I love that tune and the harmonica , did he really just do that with a guitar ?? " L O L ...

Hi Ozy ,
Lessons would have been the imposible dream for me ... I started when I was ten yrs old , with an old ( at the time ) Stella that my old man left when he took off , ( I know it's a cliche' , but true in my case ) ... So yea , I guess I'm self taught ... But , almost nobody really self teaches , because you watch and learn from other people ... I sure did and after forty eight years of playing , I can tell you that If you WANT to play , you will ...

Thanks Buzz for the well wishes ...
Know what you mean about the e-bay sessions , but with me it's usually getting on here and writing stupid s**t , ( all true ) , but none the less , L O L ... Having said that , Merry Christmas and happy new year to all ...

Hey Neo ,
You do know that it's a desease right ?? I see a guitar case walking down the street , I don't even see who's carrying it , I just follow it , ( you know , hiding behind every lamp post ) , untill I get up the nerve to say , " hi there , Whatcha get in the case " L O L ... So NO , it's not just you ...

Russel ,
What are you trying to do to me .......   I have lived and breathed MATH since I was a kid ... When I walked out of school in the eighth grade , all my teachers told me , " don't do this because you are destined to make a name for yourself in physics ... The problem was , that they had discontinued all the music programs the year before to have money for athletic programs ... And the really funny thing was that any one of the so called JOCKS would never look at me the wrong way because they knew that I would and could kick their a***s at my descretion ... Hey , it was always fun knowing that ...
When I was 28 , I finally went and took the test for a GED ... It was funny because everyone else had to go to night school for two months and when I took the pretest , they sent me up to the collage to take the final test the next day and I aced them ... It was also funny because they told me that if I wanted to go to collage , they would fing the money , L O L ... Hey , I'm just sayin , L O L .................  Jerry

Zurf my friend ,
Boy , you've touched on a spot ... We have two " kids " ... One is a spaniel cross named Charley and the other is a toy poodle named Edie ... We took Charley in as a puppy and aquired Edie when she was three ... They both turn fifteen this June and it's really hard seeing how the time has taken it's toll ... Edie has good and bad days , mostly good I have to say , but it seems like Charley's are mostly bad ... He is deaf , has cataracts , and a lot of joint problems , but seems happy most of the time ... We know that the time will come when that won't be the case and then it will be time for us to step up and do the right thing , but it won't be easy ... We have already picked out a spot in the back yard for them both and decided what we will have put on the marker stones , but boy there are sad days ahead ......................

Hi All ,
Thanks for the updates ... Good to hear everyone is doing well ...
   Tops , hope you tossed down more than one , L O L ...
Southpaw , hope everything goes well for the stork ...
Cam , you lucky bugger ... Wish I could get me a Martin ... Just have to make do with my Guilds and pretend ...
Badeye , those Washburns are SWEET guitars ... I can picture you folks having a great time around that kitchen table ...
MKM , I actually remember my six month point , ( about forty six years ago ) , L O L ... Is'nt it fun when you can pick up your guitar and just play a song for someone without having to work real hard , L O L ???? That's what this is about .......
Wayne , I saw a video of you and your lead player and thought it was fantastic ... He's very good , but don't ever discount your own skills ... The best lead player in the world don't sound like much of anything without guys like you and me to lay down a good foundation ... I know that you know what I'm talking about , L O L ..............

Hi ,
Thanks for all your kind input ...
You're all right ... Have to say that I wish that I could be as hardheaded about the business end as you Southpaw ... Having said that , it's great to get the input from old pros such as yourself and Toots ... Buvvy , it's as if you read my mind ... Alvee , L O L ... I try not to depend of a flip of a coin on matters like this , but what you said makes a h*ll of a lot of sense ... Old Doll , what can I say ... You just said everything that I already know , just hard to put into practice ...
And Wayne , I feel like we should be playing together ... I also am a folk player in a sea of whatever ... That having someone to tell you the lyrics is great except when it's always you that's doing the telling , L O L ... Glad you are happy with your system ... The system that I have works really good for what I do and for the band when I can use it , L O L ... Heck , if twelve hundred watts is'nt enough , then nothing would be , L O L .... Thanks again ............                                    Jerr

Hi guys ,
Finally got back on here !!! ...
   MKM , Yes , I've been doing some solo stuff lately and really enjoying it so I guess that's where I'm headed , L O L ...
Badeye , L O L ... If I could just play guitar half as good as that guy , Boy oh Boy , L O L ... Hey , I have started doing a lot of stuff with the harmonica along with the guitar if that counts , L O L .........

Hi Zyg ,
In my experience , many times when a fiddle's peg holes are worn , if you just pick up pegs made for a viola and use them , that will solve the problem ... Having said that though , I have never had occasion to repair a 1/4 size violin , so I'm not sure if the pegs are the same size as a 4/4 ... If not , then just upfitting to 4/4 size pegs should fix it also .........

Hi Pops ,
I'm not an amp head , but my little brother who is , has taught me some stuff ... This is something that you want to be very carefull about if you care anything about the equipment ... You'll want to find out ( on line or call crate ) , what the minimum ohm load is for this amp ... If the min. load is four ohms then you can plug in another eight ohm speaker if things are wired correctly ... But if the rated load is four ohms , you would not want to daisy chain two or more eight ohm cabs to this amp because then you are loading it to two ohms , which could cause catastrophic failure ... Hope I helped ......

Forgot to mention that every once in a while my pretty little wife says , " so what's going on with Badeye , Tops , Cam , Zurf , MKM , Southpaw , and Old Doll ( these are just names that she remembers because I tell her what's going on ) , and the rest of our friends "... Then I say , " I don't know , but I'll try to find out tonight when I can get on the PC , and then I'll bring you up to date , L O L ...
Just want you to know that you are ALL in our thoughts .................

Have'nt had time to be on here much ... Just able to get on once in a while and look at the topics and wish that I had time to respond to a lot of them ... I did see a video from Southpaw and from Wlbaye and really enjoyed watching them , and one of these days I'm going to get the equipment I need to do that and then you'll all be sorry that you have to put up with seeing and hearing me , L O L ...
Really miss being on here more and talking with friends , but still hoping to maybe meet a few of you next summer when we take our motorhome trip ...
Meanwhile , don't forget to have a beer ( or whatever your proclivities are )for me and know that we're thinking of you all .........
                                                                                   Jerr

Hi ,
Played at a lttle place called Wolf Lake last night ... About thirty miles away from Detroit Lakes ... Wife and I had a good time as always , but the whole night my rythem guitar player and singing partner griped about the sound system we were using ( which was his home "hobby "system that he insisted on using instead of my system that we normally used ) and kept asking me why it sounded like crap ... I tried to explain to him that with the low power output we have no headroom , but he could'nt grasp it because he's the kind of personality that is never wrong , L O L ... Having dealt with issues like this with him for so long , it just makes me seriously consider just chucking it and going on my own ... When it comes to playing solo , I've always considered it a matter of just doing the " stand and deliver " , because when you're solo , it's all on you ... Now my singing partner IS a singer , where I'm not so much , but , when you're solo , you have nobody to take the blame when things don't go right except yourself ... Fact is , if I had his singing talent , I would have been playing out long before I finally started , but he never would go on his own because he needs someone else to blame when things are'nt just right ...
Our drummer is a completely different story , him and his wife are such sweet people ... They both stopped tonight and had a few beers with us in front of a good fire in the shop and we just love them both because there are never any issues with these people ... He just loves getting out and playing music just as I do ...  Anyway , I'm not sure what to do at this point but things are going to change , one way or the other ... Any feed back from my friends here would be great .................

Hi all ,
I love this topic so much that I could'nt even take the time to read all the replies before putting in my worthless two cents ... Hope nobody minds ...
What p@3##sses my off about this is all the people who take all the credit when it's there to take , and then crying about it later ... Now don't get me wrong ... I'm NOT talking about the folks who lose their jobs , or when the credit card companies up their interest rates with no warning ... I'm talking about these people who use the credit they have for stupid sh#t , then cry when the credit card company expects to get back what these people promised to pay back when they took on the debt ... Drives me crazy to think that these people can go to some outfit and get their debt reduced when they should have known what they were getting into in the first place ... They are'nt third graders for god"s sake ... Not withstanding , there will always be people to try to take advantage of folks who are down on their luck , but please ... It just bothers me that these people can get out of a debt so easy that they agreed to and promised to honor ... Not a very Chistian way of living , is it ...
Sorry for my rant , BUT I CAN'T HELP MYSELF ............................

I went and played the B-day party for that gal who turned ninty five last weekend , and it was wonderfull ... For anyone who has'nt seen my earlier post , I played there solo about a month or so ago , and they asked me back for this party ... Those old folks were more than anyone could ask for as far as an audience goes ... I did a few covers and then started on my original stuff and it was as if they knew my music , L O L ... To make a long story short"er" , it was a wonderfull time for everyone and I'm gratefull for the chance to play for them and will do so anytime that I can ......

Toots ,
This is one of the best stories that I,ve seen , and I love it ... I can picture it right down to the last toot , L O L ... I've also been around long enough to have gigs like this , but that does'nt make it any less precious ... Is'nt it wonderfull when you can connect with an audience like that ?? Nothing like it ...

Hi everybody ,
Have'nt had time to be on here forever , but had to respond to this one ...
To me , I have to get with my buddy Zurf , ... B open is one that I never use , does'nt matter whether I'm doing covers or writing my own stuff ... I just do not use it ... I transpose to get out of it , L O L ... In the first place , I think that it is a lame sounding chord ... I'll take any other chord over it ... Having said that , I have no problem using it as a barre chord down the neck at the , whatever fret it is ... Guess that I've been playing so long that I don't even know where I'm playing as long as I get the job done , L O L ...

Hi Sammy , and welcome to Chordie ...
I play a twelve sometimes and as with the twelvers I've had in the past , I don't detune them ... As Phil said , some people do detune them if they're old so as to lessen the tension on the neck and soundboard ... If they detune one full tone , then they just capo at the second fret and use the same chords as if it were tuned to concert pitch ...
