Thanks for the input. That's exactly the position I am in. I wanted a 335 for 15 years before I could finally afford one 3-4 years ago. The year before I bought it I picked up the Starfire - It was a grand cheaper than the 335.
Playing them side by side though, the feel of the Starfire kicks the hell out of the Gibson. So Im attached to the 335 but it feels like an inferior instrument to me. AAAAAAAACK!

Im thinking of selling either my Guild Starfire IV or my 335 to pick up a high end nylon string acoustic. I don't need two semi hollow bodies. The 335 is a 335, but I love the way the Starfire plays a lot more, so I'm inclined to keep the Guild. (FWIW the Guild was made in the last month before they moved their high end manufacturing overseas, so it's one of the later domestic instruments. The Gibson is an '07.)
Crazy to dump the 335 for an acoustic? I think I could get good $$$ for it right now with the Gibson wood drama going on at the moment.
Thoughts?

Have an idea. LMK if you are interested.
1. I'll put up a poll somewhere. (we can't poll on this platform can we?) Participants will nominate and we will vote upon a cover tune for the group to play.
2. Someone will lay down a track and email that track to the next guy.
3. Next guy will lay down a track over guy #1's track.
4. Repeat until everyone is involved.
5. End result = collectively created song.
We'd need to set up a few ground rules (eg no dumping previous tracks) and it might sound like crap but I think it might be another fun Chordian project.
Thoughts?

I quit after the most part due to a shin fracture and dislocated toe. That hurt a lot. I still use the bag though.....
The first knuckles from my pinky and ring finger are pretty much flat from using the heavy bag so much. I was always pretty fast, so I didn't use the speed bag much. When sparring, I was just shy of 6'4" and weighed 155#. So I was a rail and had a huge reach advantage over anyone in my weight class. The problem was that if they got inside on me, they could use their low center of gravity to throw me any which way they chose. So I learned speed, but didn't hit real hard. Those stocky guys could outpunch me impact wise three to one, but I could hit them A LOT before they got in on me. I didn't kick much, generally sticking to "scientific" boxing, but knew a few defensive kicks and a couple knockdowns. I had a friend who was 5'4" that could take a hit and I never did beat him when sparring. Two of them actually. One went on to be a body guard and the other went to prison for murder, so I don't think there's any shame in losing to those guys.
I love getting hit. No matter how good of a day you've had, no matter how long you've been training, no matter what you or the other guy do for a living, how successful you are, etc,. when he lands a good one it reminds you that you're just a person. No more, no less. It's the great equalizer.

I push myself pretty hard. Twice a year or so I either get sick or pass out from exhaustion and need to spend a couple days in bed. Small price to pay for the fun I'm having though.
I have burned out on guitar - hit a plateau where nothing seems to sound good and it isn't fun any more. I put guitar down for a couple months.

I find that there are occasionally nuances that I will pick up from set to set. Here are The only two times I've noticed a "wow" in a tube change:
1. A friend in radio got hooked up with a collection of really old tubes....50 years +. All russian. I put a couple in my Deville and wow.
2. I once switched out 12at7s for 12ax7s. This is when I was playing jazz. Again, wow.

Lots of common interests here!
I'm doing my confined water dives this weekend for my SCUBA cert. I own more guns than I need but not as many as I want. I love fishing and boating and can show you more ways to send a nice boat to the repair shop than I would like to think about. I brew beer and make wine at home, I'm a BBQ whiz and a pretty good smoker and I can cook like a mofo. I like to hunt. I have a freezer full of critters I've shot or hooked.
I was just given a 12' long potato gun for my birthday but have yet to fire it.
I'm turning in to a huge WW2 buff. I've been reading 1-2 books per week on the subject for the last 6 months or so, mostly from the perspective of victims of Stalin and Hitler. Survivor accounts, that type of thing. Starting to learn about the organizations surrounding those two lunatics.
I can take almost any dog with almost any behavior disorder and fix it, but I can't do a thing with wood, metals, or anything involving power tools. I have no idea how a car operates. My knowledge base ends at putting on spares.
Just had berry bushes put in the back yard so I can grow some of my own food.
Finally I love mixed martial arts. I've studied various forms of kick boxing and grappling on and off for the last 15 years.
