good to see you still at it.
I have to break some bad news to you though.
that stuff you drink isnt water, water is clear, not brown with a creamy head.

Cheers  Brian,

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. Did you know if you say beer can with an English accent, it comes out as bacon in a Jamaican accent. Go on, try it. Maybe I could write a reggae song titled “No Beer Can I Cry.”

Nice one Brian. Pedr, short and sweet.

Thank you Piri, after a week of trying to write lyrics about water and a war vet with PTSD those few lyrics were all I could come up with. Then when I turned on the phone camera and picked up the guitar my mind went blank again and I struggled to remember what little I had written. So, I thought something is better than nothing, so I went with it over dubbing the extra vocal recorded on my phone.

For my soul.

If you know what I mean.

I drank all sorts of things.

I’ve had my fair share of stings.

But I tell ya  tell ya that water water.

Is the thing for me.

I had also written these lyrics to go with it but they didn't sing well

I left the military ten years ago.

A messed-up head and medals to show.

The bad war memories come back when I try to sleep.

My midnight screaming got me thrown out on the street.

In amongst all the civvies and their brightness.

All I see is my doom and gloom.

I swapped my family for the bottle.

Here is my short contribution for this month song as my arthritic fingers struggle to move when I play guitar nowadays. Just poorly recorded on my cellphone but hopefully it entertains.

Jeff I can imagine sitting out on the prairie around a campfire at night after a day in the saddle rounding up cattle hearing you sing and play that song.. It works real good, lyrics and guitar.

Hi
I'm not sure if Bono and U2 are my cup of tea but I see Bono has put out a memoir "Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story" which is out this Tuesday. My family wants to buy me a copy so I suppose it should be a good read.

Sorry, only got to edit this video: The word is remember in the line I'll never remember my time with you, which I managed to fumble through in this video of "Drivers Seat" (originally by Sniif 'n' the tears): https://youtu.be/0LsLUSMF1PU

Enjoy!

Richard

Good one Richard and also a good round of applause from the crowd. It's good when the punters stop talking and take time to have a listen.

Good one Jeff a perfect song for a bluegrass band to play.

Good one Zurf, Gold Tone have a beautiful tone to me just as good as a standup bass and less bulky to carry around. Though I often wonder why people would buy the 23 instead of the 25.

Piri no doubt that would be one of Larry's favorite instrumentals. I'm sure Larry not being a cat of money wouldn't care less about the new Prime Ministers billionaire status.
Will the new PM still be living at Number 10 this Christmas a week is a long time in politics nowadays.
Jan your right Larry deserves a medal. I see on  youtube he has taken to chasing Foxes away . I hope it wasn't Basil Brush.

Jim I could imagine that song being used in a movie scene with a man with a bad hangover getting up in the morning.

Piri, in the last few weeks two young ladies I worked with before I retired have had their life's cut short by cancer. Your lyrics for me capture how people are feeling at this time over the loss of these two. A brilliant piece of song writing in a good but not over complicated way. I look forward to hearing you do this song.

Thank you to you all on Chordie.

Who I have interacted with in my short seven years' time on Chordie.

You have taught me a lot everyone.

Before my time on here 2O years ago on October 25th.

The internet gave birth to chordie.

A time when many were flocking to online.

A new opportunity to share on how it can be done.

Quickly growing in numbers with a diverse bunch posting on how it is done or questions on how it could be done.

Strum or finger picking guitar information for everyone.

A new frontier town, Chordie, with many flocking in.

People from all around the world came here mining for musical gold.

Then after the musical gold rush many left town.

Now there is only a few of us around.

Hope those out there with guitars and other instruments.

Will find out that here is a place where the good people are.

So here I am raising a glass to the future and past.

Happy Birthday Chordie.

Hi
This Tuesday October 25th is Chordie's  twentieth birthday.

Cheers everyone I love your comments New Zealand is a wonderful country with mostly good people but like the rest of the world we are groaning under the pain of the foolishness of humanity. Our politicians from both sides are losing their way it's a bit hard to write about in a few words here as it is a very complex thing to explain. Basically, our schools, hospital and infrastructure is broken with all these committees talking about it but no real action at the coal face. Most of our farmers have been pouring money and work into making sure their farms are ecologically sound. Instead of rewarding farmers for being good environment stewards the government has come up with a new proposed extra special tax for farmers to make life harder for them than what it is now.  Farmers are the economic backbone of NZ and that is where most of our overseas earning come from. The positive thing people are starting to say enough is enough and hopefully this will mean that some commonsense people might rise up to stop this madness but who knows. Unfortunately, in our school kids are being taught to believe absolute rubbish and it's making them think that the farming sector is to blame for all sorts of things. If the proposed tax and herd reductions go ahead, it would be ruinous to many farmers and our country. The kids here love to eat but they are ignorant about where the food on their plate comes from. So, we need Larry from number 10 to come and sort us out also LOL. We need the Uk and the USA to do well because what happens in your country affect us as well. So, if your economy catches a cold and sneezes, we in NZ end up with a financial situation that is like a bad flu and pneumonia. I will attach a link to the Wikipedia page about Larry who is a real cat at 10 Downing Street.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_(cat)

Grah good humour not only in your songs but also your banter with the crowd.

Number 10 Larry

Little furry Larry.

Sometimes with that aimless look photographed in the press.

In his natural furry dress.

Has had lots of problems to address.

Making himself famous.

Amongst all the political mess.

He has had a lot of responsibility to carry.

Does Larry.

In his time at Number 10.

Under his four powerful paws.

He’s had four Prime Ministers .

Enter his residential doors.

From Cameron to Liz Truss.

He is a residential must.

He keeps their secrets and doesn’t break their trust.

In amongst all the turmoil and flurry.

The last one he  got rid of in a hurry.

He’s not a doggy purr son.

Its not his scene.

Because of that he never visited the Queen.

To him her Majesty’s dogs were obscene.

He felt  far more important in his cat arrogance above those animal things.

In his years at Number 10.

Influential night time parties.

Legal and illegal meetings now and then.

Many glad he couldn’t put paper to pen.

Under him this little thing he has, had more Prime Ministers than our King.

King Charles The Third hasn’t yet met Larry The First.

Or be subject to his meows and purry outbursts.

He has posed with Trump and Obama.

Breaking through the Presidential security armour.

Little furry Larry.

Is a quiet political charmer.

In amongst all the drama he has his own karma.

The press has said Larry the cat is here to stay.

At fifteen years of age, he hasn’t got much to say.

He is happy living his life without no pay.

Will number five at Number10 get Larry’s blessing.

Or will he keep us guessing.

Good one Jeff sometimes it is tricky addressing our future demise.

Jim. that is brilliant how you composed your tronic or elec song using all the words for October's chordies song of the month.

Here is a water song I like by Kiwi songwriter Brooke Fraser. it's too hard for me to cover. Check out the drummer in this video a very original and subtle style of playing. Maybe someone will cover this song Something In The Water.
