Topic: Scratch board

The black thing on the guitar, below the sound hole, mine has a see-through plastic sheeting over it, and I was wondering if it's alright to take it off or woule it leave more scratches on the black thing...

See, there's a bunch of air pockets in it, and it's starting to come off from a huge air pocket, and it looks really ugly  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_sad.gif" border=0 alt="Sad">

Re: Scratch board

I understand your reluctance to take this off. I had the plastic on mine for about 20 years. Ok so I never played it for about 15 of those(blame marriage and fatherhood) but I still couldn't face taking it off. In the end, about a year ago, I had to do it like a band aid and just rip it off so that it was over quickly.

It's really just there to protect it while on sale and stuff I guess, but if it's starting to look shabby then get it off. Any small scratches are easily polished out. They also add a bit of character.

Having a few scratches doesn't make you a bad player.

In my case I'm just a bad player anyway. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cry.gif" border=0 alt="Crying or Very Sad">

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: Scratch board

Alright, thanks man, I'll get it over with haha, and thanks for the great humor too!  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Re: Scratch board

Do you mean the pick guard?  Why would you want to remove it?  Just curious!  The guard is there to protect the guitar against scratches from pick use.  The guards can be replaced over time, once it gets too scratched up.
