Topic: Screen Layout

Hi Sysadmin:

I seem to be experiencing an issue whereby when I'm in some of the Chordie screens, the public songbook screens specifically, the boxes from the top right corner (5 Popular Songs, New Songbooks and the Links )

overlay the Public Songbook screen making the top right hand corner where the sort order options are, unreadable.

I am using the IE 6 browser with my monitor set to 1024x768 resolution.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Re: Screen Layout

While I like the ads (They have provided me with companies I can deal with..Thanks)they cover up lyrics and chords. I'm not that talented so it's hard for me to guess. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Screen Layout

Pleast post concrete urls where you have problems. Ads are not supposed to cover the songs.

Re: Screen Layout

Hi Again:

Coincidentally enough, it occurs on the About Chordie Forum page URL <a href="http://www.chordie.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=1290&start=0&S=682c1d902cae58894bcb0dc7b8e26e28" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/forum/index.php? … 90&amp ;start=0&S=682c1d902cae58894bcb0dc7b8e26e28</a>

as well as the public songbooks page <a href="http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php</a>

and the front page of a songbook <a href="http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php?show=details&songid=21387" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php? … s&song id=21387</a> for example.

I should also note that this does *not* appear to be an issue with the Netscape browser.

Hmmmm

Don't worry too much about this minor irritant at the moment tho. It's been an issue for quite some time and I've survived quite nicely.

Re: Screen Layout

I use Safari on my Mac at home and have not seen any of these problems while using Safari browser.  However, have noticed ads blotting out other site content when viewing some chordie pages while using Internet Explorer on machines at work.  Perhaps it is an IE thing?

Re: Screen Layout

This is important for me to fix.

I am however not able to reproduce it in my version of IE either. Could you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Re: Screen Layout

I am going to try sending a couple examples. If they don't work, you may need to advise me on the best method.

Re: Screen Layout

You will need to do it this way.

* Open the web page

* Press ctrl-alt-PrtScr (This copies you screen to the clipboard)

* Open a image program, like Paint (Start - Programs - Accessories - Paint)

* Copy the image from the clipboard into Paint. You can usually use ctrl-v for this

* Save

* Attach to forum post

You can skip the last three steps, but just pasting it directly into an email, and send it to <a href="mailto:admin&#64;chordie.com." target="_blank">admin&#64;chordie.com.</a>

This is instructions for Windows only.

Re: Screen Layout

Hi Again:

Here's another quirk that might be related to the ad-overlay issue.

I've noticed that when I hit my "back" button to go back to the previous page, the ad goes blank and I have to hit "back" a second time to actually return to the previous page.

This only seems to happen on screens where the ad-overlay issue presents itself.

P.S...did you get the screen shots I sent?

Re: Screen Layout

No, Tunedef. I did not get the screenshot. Can you resend it?

Re: Screen Layout

Hi Per:

I sent them again this morning...let me know if you got them and, if not, try emailing me at <a href="mailto:algernon&#64;pathcom.com" target="_blank">algernon&#64;pathcom.com</a> and I'll send them as a reply.

Re: Screen Layout

Hi Tunedeaf,

Yes, I got your mail. Sorry about the delay in replying.

I have made a minor change to the html-code. This might solve this specific problems, but I am not sure.

Could you try with your IE-version, and see if it is fixed now? If not, please send me a new screenshot.

If this happens on other pages - I am very interested in hearing about it. I will fix it.
