Topic: Catchy songs for a new player

I am self studying and have been playing for about a week now.  So far, I have maybe 4 songs, one of them is jingle bells <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile"> and I would like to know of a few more that I can write down and try to play.  I haven started chords yet and honestly, I only know the first 3 frets and first 3 strings.  I'm sure by the end of the week, I will know a little more but if someone could recommend a few songs from the Tab section, I would appreciate it.  Thanks

Re: Catchy songs for a new player

well i'd suggest learning chords, and playing "Ghost Riders In The Sky" it's a simple song, and the chords are easy to play. I play a D chord where it says B7 because i can't quite hit the B7 chord yet.

Ode to joy is pretty easy in key of G. I don't know if the tab is here on chordie but it should be easy to find somewhere online.

'Wipeout' - The Surfaris is quite a good catchy tune to play using just tab. It'll give your fingers a little workout as well. Not sure if it's on here, I haven't looked. If not just mail me and I'll figure a way of sending it too you if ye like.
