Walking Away With Youby Alex Scrimgeour

V1

[Am]Why does it [C]feel so wrong, e[Em]very time i'm [G]with you i feel [Am]badly

For the [C]ones i've hurt, the [Em]ones i've lied to the [G]ones with misplaced [Am]trust

Its hard for [C]me sometimes i [Em]look at you I [G]see your crying [Am]eyes

Cant touch I [C]look away I [Em]keep mine shut [G]incase you see the [D]lies

Chorus 1

[D]Theres a [D]fire in my [D]head, my [D]heart my eyes

My lies [D]keep churning and i dont know [D]what to [Am]do....

V2

So i just [C]walk away

i [Em]leave this life to [G]return some other [Am]day

But maybe [C]you cant see, its [Em]best to go and [G]keep yourself from [Am]me

Your calling [C]out my name

But [Em]i ignore it cos we [G]used to play this [Am]game

No fun for [C]you and me, i [Em]walk away

And ive [G]got myself to [D]blame.

Chorus 2

[D]Theres a [D]fire in my [D]head, my [D]heart my eyes

My lies [D]keep churning and i dont know [D]what to [D]do

[D]I send a [D]letter to myself [D]but no one writes me back, i'm sorry [D]cos that [D]letters meant for you[Am]...

[Am]-[C]-[Em]-[G]X2<----Instrumental

V3

What can I say right now to make you understand the way I feel?

"Its not your fault" I say.

Get up, get out Play your hand so i can deal.

It takes an arguement,to make you see, make you feel my point of view.

But you dont want to fight, you know i dont

But what else can I do?

Chorus 3

[D]Theres a [D]fire in my [D]head, my [D]heart my eyes

My lies [D]keep churning and i dont know [D]what to [D]do.

Everytime i look around i see your face, i'm walkin but I'll walk away with you......

[Am]-[C]-[Em]-[G]

yeah i'll walk away with you x 3

Re: Walking away with you.

That's just a fine job Alex. Those are some heart wrenching lyrics with melancholy chords to match the mood. You’ve done quite good.

I hope you dont think i'm a psycho like everyone else who's read the lyrics

Re: Walking away with you.

Not at all but I can see you get a good connection to your emotions when you write them.

Re: Walking away with you.

Hi Alex,

Another good one from you although I am looking forward to you recording this one to hear how you intended the long D in the chorus to be sung. That is if you have time between the feeding and nappy changing.

Re: Walking away with you.

Looks a good one Scrimmy. Some good lyrics for sure, and not any hint of psycho-ness in there to me....but then maybe all that means is I'm one too

Well done though, and looking forward to hearing it.

All I got, is a red guitar, three chords and the truth

Re: Walking away with you.

Really dig these lyrics. Had some trouble feeling out how to play it. Have to come back to itand try again I geuss. Hope I get to hear you do it soon. Great lyrics though!

Well heres a shirt version of the song, I bought a new mic and it sounded great at first but it sounds crap now, pretty crackley for some reason.

Re: Walking away with you.

Great job Scrimmy.I listened to it a couple times,it's got good flow.nice song thanks.

...Badeye.

one caper after another

Re: Walking away with you.

Hi Alex,

Like Badeye I also listened to this a couple of times and the long D in the chorus that I was struggling with actually works really well. I am very pleased you found time to record it as it is a far better song than the way that I was interpreting it

Thank you,

Roger

Re: Walking away with you.

Yeah, I quite like the way the D fits in myself, its called lack of imagination
