Topic: Recording a live session onto a laptop

Hi all

I am planning to do a couple of gigs later in the year. There are 2 of us both with electro-acoustics & marshall as50 amps. I am hoping to record these gigs using a laptop but don't know of a cheap solution.

Both amps have a line out so I can record direct & without a mic. Is it possible to wire directly into the audio-in socket on the laptop or do I need an interface. What software should I use?

Any suggestions ???

Steve

stproc,

You should be able to run the line out from the amp directly to the audio in on the laptop.

I use a program called Audacity, which I found on the web as a free download.

I'm thinking of buying a Digi-design M-box product. Comes bundled with LE Protools.
