Topic: Bug hunting

I will buy a Chordie T-shirt(<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.cafepress.com/chordie" target="_blank">http://www.cafepress.com/chordie</a>) to the best bug report in May!

It will be based on

* Bug severeness

* Clearness in description of the problem (inkl. url and browser version)

Re: Bug hunting

I think I have been able to nail a bug resulting in "File not found"-errors.

Please report all errors of the type "This file is temporarily unavailiable".

Re: Bug hunting

Okay, I think I've got one.  I've found that when I add a text only format song to my songbook it seems to mess up the formatting when I view it later on.

Example 1:

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.ultimate-guitar.com/print.php?what=tab&id=17393" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.u … tar.com/pr int.php?what=tab&id=17393</a>

Viewed from my songbook:

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url=http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/print.phpreplaceqmarkwhat=tab&id=17393&songbook=source&transpose=0" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ultimate-g uitar.com/print.phpreplaceqmarkwhat=tab&id=17393&son gbook=source&transpose=0</a>

Example 2:

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/getsome.org/guitar/olga/main/l/led_zeppelin/thats_the_way.tab" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/getso … ar/olga/ma in/l/led_zeppelin/thats_the_way.tab</a>

Viewed from my songbook:

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url=http://getsome.org/guitar/olga/main/l/led_zeppelin/thats_the_way.tab&songbook=source&transpose=0" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ome.org/gu itar/olga/main/l/led_zeppelin/thats_the_way.tab&songbook =source&transpose=0</a>

I haven't edited them in my songbook at all and I've used both IE6 and Firefox 1.5 to view them and they look the same.  Also thought I'd take the opportunity to say thanks for putting together such a great site.  Keep up the good work!

Re: Bug hunting

Brilliant bug report!

It has actually been reported before, but your good examples made it possible to track this one down and fix it.

Thanks a lot!

You are now in lead in the "Chordie T-shirt"-competition.... bute thare are still 20 days to go.

Re: Bug hunting

Pere,

I have "the proclaimers" in my songbook, the song is "king of the road"

when I try to edit it, it will not do it properly. I was trying to edit it so I could read the first line properly with the chord above it, on the preview in the edit part, everything looks fine but when i go back into the song it is just the same.

is this a bug?

im off for the weekend now, play some guitar in a bothy ofr a few days while lubricating my throat with a fine malt whisky.

BAck on sunday .

have a good weekend yerself,

all the best

Re: Bug hunting

Yes, it was a bug. The problem seems to be that you have two versions of this song, stored in different books. Only one of them is edited.

The editing is global (you should not have to edit all songs if you have the same song in several books).

Ive made a change that I think will get around this problem.

Re: Bug hunting

thanks,

i will go take it out one book and then edit it.

Re: Bug hunting

The change I made, should make it possible to edit one of the songs. There might however be problems if you edit both of the songs.

Re: Bug hunting

We have a winner. AW32!!

Aw32, please send me your post address (to: <a href="mailto:admin&#64;chordie.com" target="_blank">admin&#64;chordie.com</a>), and you will get a Chordie T-shirt for you brilliant bug report.

I will use a significat amount of the income from T-shirt sales (<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.cafepress.com/chordie" target="_blank">http://www.cafepress.com/chordie</a>) to set up prices like this. Buying T-shirts is therefore a brilliant way to support the site.

Re: Bug hunting

OK I&#8217;ve got this in my songbook and it worked for a couple of days.

3. Ain't Misbehavin' (Razaf(w), Waller & Brooks(m))

Now I get this SQL error.

select chopro from songbook where url='<a href="http://www.russell-lawson.com/music/chordpro/RazafEtAl_AintMisbehavin" target="_blank"> http://www.russell-lawson.com/music/cho … EtAl_AintM isbehavin</a>'_rev.cpm' and owner='bruceclay' order by chopro desc

If I click EDIT it works and takes me to the tab.

Now as I can&#8217;t get to the song the regular way I can&#8217;t remove it.

I tried to search the artist and the name with no success.

How to I delete it from my songbook?

Bruce

Re: Bug hunting

I am pretty sure this is related to the name of the song. More specifically the "&". Ill add it to my bug-list.

Try clicking "show edit/publish options".  You can delete it here.
