Topic: The Broken Doll

Way back in July 2008 Phill Williams wrote a song called "The Broken Doll" which I fell in love with immediately. However Phill wrote it in Bb which is way out of my vocal range so I transposed it to G to suit my voice. Both versions and the discussion are in this thread: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=8529

I have often sung this song and I have recorded it several times with different levels of instruments but I still prefer my original interpretation which was with just a piano accompaniment.  I have, with Phill's blessing, uploaded it to Youtube: http://youtu.be/SoMLuLR6efQ

I hope you like it.

Thank you Phill. Great song!!!

Re: The Broken Doll

thanks roger for doing this and especially for posting the original thread, just reading through it now gave me a lovely warm feeling inside.

2008, cor, has it been that long? i was working then and enjoying my job, i'd still be there today but they decided to close the plant.

it was also nice to be reminded of some old friends i haven't heard from for a while.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The Broken Doll

That was a great performance Roger and a very well written song Phill.  Lieber and Stoller have nothing on you guys.

You can see all my video covers on http://www.youtube.com/bensonp1000
I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: The Broken Doll

Really  clear vocal  Roger ,  Nicely done

Re: The Broken Doll

I've always liked Phill's song "The broken doll" too.
You've done a great cover there Roger with just a electro piano as accompaniment.
Well done.

Re: The Broken Doll

Thank you Phill, Pete, Grah and Tony.

This and James's "One Of These Days" are my two favourite songs that have come  from Chordie's songwriting fraternity (apart from my own ones of course lol).
