Topic: tips on practicing lead guitar

I am considered an intermediate guitarist, even though i have been playing a while. I want to step it up to the next level and learn how to play lead. Any tips on how to get started...you know, which scales to play and the theory behind it all. I need all the advice I can get.

Joje,

The two basic scales are Em and Am pentatonic.  If you add two more notes, you have the blues scale.  There are also finger exercises that you must start doing to involve all four fingers on your left hand.  Doing lead guitar is no more than playing a box or scale to a key in the song.
