Topic: Piezo bridge

Just curious if anyone has ever added a piezo bridge to an electric guitar -- especially curious about the tune o matic piezo?

Saw one for 40 bucks on ebay and some LR Baggs for 170.

Re: Piezo bridge

Hi Cork_92, I have just bought a Peavey XP Generator guitar that has a Piezo bridge pickup already installed, with a rocker switch to use it, i can tell you it gives a bright sound, like extra presence, of course the amp settings you use can make a difference, but the mentioned guitar after a pro setup is very cheap and has real versatility and in my opinion would be perfect for Country or pickin style playing, hope this helps a little.

Re: Piezo bridge

Hi Cork ...

Been about wondering the same thing. A few guitars are made with them, and usually do it to obtain an acoustic guitar sound from the instrument. I played a Godin XTSA last year which had one, but have to say the acoustic sound wasn't very genuine. I would think it would be hard to electronically duplicate the properties of the wood resonating. Alex Lifeson (Rush) has a Piezo built into the custom Les Paul AXcess that Gibson built for him, and talks about it mimicking an acoustic in one of his "rig rundowns" on YouTube somewhere.

JTL60 .... nice to hear from someone who actually owns one. The one I played sounded exactly like what you described.

Re: Piezo bridge

Well if your wanting an acoustic sound out of your electric,, skip the hasell of the bridge, usually you can find a used digitech rp 250 for 50 - 80 bucks or so. http://www.amazon.com/DigiTech-RP250-Gu … B000K4ZZ06   The acoustic model on it is really great. select that, dial in some reverb /chorus an your sounding just fine.  + you get all the other goodies and with the right usb cable it can go right to your computer and record + you can also tweek your stock models and save them and you have a downloadable library of 1000+ patches from the user library.  bump up to 160 bucks and get a rp 255 and you get a Sitar patch and a looper also.
then here are other options  stomp box
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … ects-pedal   25 bucks and its a good one! no matter what you are playing if you dont have an EQ you missing out http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … dal/h85655

There are more expensive ones out there for both,, if you look at the reviews on guy listed his soundcloud page with audio samples.  if budget is no problem then I would think also about the BOSS but its 125  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … -simulator

ok but it still all comes down to what you want smile  have fun experimenting!
