Topic: Recommendation: Which Guitar Support Could Be Better For Me?

Because of back problem, I am planning to buy one of the guitars supports below:

    a. ErgoPlay Tappert Classical Guitar Support (http://tinyurl.com/luhjbwo)

    b. A-Frame Guitar Support (Link: http://tinyurl.com/nqfr9sq)

    c. Dynarette Guitar Cushion (http://tinyurl.com/os75rr4)

Has anybody purchased one of those guitar supports? Any recommendation?

Hi Barbara, and Welcome to the Chordie Forums!

I also have spine problems, but have not had to use one of these yet..... and as I play an Ovation that there is no way to stick any kind of suction cup to anyway, am getting by nicely with a proper strap.  I did find this blog article that brings up some good points that might be useful to you in your shopping.  With a little patience there is a high likelyhood that one of our members will drop by with some first hand experience to relate.

I have never seen one  of these devices  before and like  doug I  also play an ovation  the light  weight  and bowl body  make  for  a  comfortable  play when used  with a  strap .

Never heard of these things. Interesting. Not sure if I would want to use something with suction cups. Like Grah says. You can get different positions when using the strap. Even sitting down.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

The center a frame looks like a good choice,I think you  should go too a guitar shop and try some out if you can.

I  know there are plenty out there as rock guys use them all the time switching between electric and acoustic,,   but they are for standing.

I played on an a frame throughout my music studies in college. It was really, really comfortable.

Welcome to Chordie, Barbara!

If getting your guitar higher is the issue, a simple small wooden box or step like the classical guitarists use might solve the problem, and your thigh would then be higher to hold your guitar at the right place:

For eliminating the guitar weight altogether, this gadget made by Viking Guitar Stands might do the trick. It screws on to a mike stand, and you can just slide your chair up to it and play, without having to hold the weight of the guitar at all:

There's another version made by MBrace, but I looked at one a while back, and it seemed flimsy to me.
