Dm                         Am
I sit and wonder what is wrong
C                     G                Dm
where has our compassion gone
Dm                         Am
All the land is in a state
C                       G              Dm
Bureaucracy, too much red tape
Dm                         Am
people begging on the street
C                   G             Dm
they cant get enough to eat
Dm                         Am
Politicians rape the land
C                     G    Dm
people never understand
Dm                         Am
why they have to scrimp and save
C                       G             Dm
why they are the systems  slave
Dm                         Am
why dismantle national health
C                       G          Dm
to increase somebody's wealth

C                                                 G
you close the schools. we'll break the system
F                              C
sing the songs we all know well
C                           D
health and social security
F                            C
this is just a living hell

Dm                         Am
people try to find away
C                    G             Dm
how to live on half their  pay
Dm                         Am
austerity, we'll break their balls
C                       G                Dm
stand firm and watch the mighty fall
Dm                         Am
find the  strength to stay alive
C                       G        Dm
time to protest and survive
Dm                       Am
stand together ,speak as one

C                       G          Dm
the time for rebirth has begun
Dm                         Am
lend a hand to fellow man
C                       G         Dm
so lets all build a better land
Dm                      Am
mothers fathers teach your sons
C                       G                Dm
tell your  daughters time has come

C                                             G
Change the world. we'll break the system
F                                 C
sing the songs we all know well
C                           D
health and social security
F                            C
this is just a living hell

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: Songs of health and social security

Great lyrics, as others have said, it captures the situation perfectly, certainly for Greece as well as here.

Again as others have said  Well done  !

Re: Songs of health and social security

You have echoed my sentiments exactly. They want austerity, but just for the already repressed. The ones that could afford a pay cut just make more. What about the boss of Thomas Cook who has just donated a third of her bonus for this year to charity? What will she do with the rest of her £4,000,000? FYO, this is the company that were responsible for 2 kids dieing of carbon monoxide poisoning while on holiday. The parents were awarded a few thousand £, while TC received substantially more. Inequality?

Great song Grah

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Songs of health and social security

Thanks Phill, sadly my vote  didn't  make any  difference ,but  maybe if  I keep   singing  and  shout  loud  enough eventually changes  will  start  to  happen.
