Topic: The Nightmare Never Ends

I have yet to play this right through so I hope it works ok.

The Nightmare Never Ends

[C]She wears dark sunglasses on a cloudy day so people can not see
[F]The black eye from last night when he didn't like his dinner
[Em]When did things start going wrong this is not how it used to be,
[F]She used to feel important, she used to be a winner
[C]Now she trembles when he comes home, she always gets the blame
[G]The kids all run and hide when he starts screaming her name

[F]She's just too scared to leave him as [Em]he's threatened her before,
[F]She's lost count of the times the [F]police have come to call
[C]The bruises that she has said have [F]been due to a fall
[G]Things seem to be getting worse, [F]she wonders how it will end
[G]She's all alone, it's been a while since he's [F]driven off her friends

[C]It's not just his fists that cut her, [G]his words can hurt as well
[F]Slowly things are getting worse, [G]this house' her private hell
[Em]If only she could find the strength to [G]simply walk away
[F]The sun would finally shine for her on this [C]bleak and hopeless day

Re: The Nightmare Never Ends

It really needs someone with a stronger voice than me but I posted it anyway. I didn't want the ukulele to dominate it as it is the wrong instrument for this song.

Re: The Nightmare Never Ends

I know this kind of brutality is going on all around, and it horrifies me when confronted with it. As I read your words, Beestie, I got chills of fear, rage, and despair all rolled up into one. I sincerely hope I never walk in on a situation like this, with a man battering his wife or children.

Re: The Nightmare Never Ends

Unfortunately, this was written after talking to a friend of mine and from years dealing with my wife's ex as well. In both cases it is verbal abuse and silly games but that is enough. My wife's ex sorted the problem out by drinking himself to death. At least both had enough sense to get out but when kids are involved it is never a clean break. It's not quite as bad as in the film Once We Were Warriors but it is bad enough. I have had to resist offering to take a couple of mates around and have a "talk" with the other guy, but it is tempting.
