Topic: NGD - Finally Here!

I've been dreaming about a hollow-body for quite a while, but never found one I've liked in a price range I could afford. Gretsch introduced their Streamliner series earlier this year, so I took the plunge and ordered one yesterday:

Their new Broad-Tron pickups sound amazing, and they've been able to cut the price by having them made in Indonesia. Every review I've seen online has been stellar, so it'll be a twitchy 3-weeks until it arrives. First thing I'll do is replace those knobs with black ones ... they look like an after-thought to me.

How about that "Torino Green" color, eh? Wow!

Never been a headstock snob but I would love a Gretsch. They just look and sound so classy. Nice one TF.

PURTY!  As usual, I know little to nothing about electrics.  However, I agree... black knobs will look better.  Hope it plays as nice as you're expecting!

Picked it up late-Thursday, and have been cranking it ever since. Can't believe what a decent guitar this is for well under $1,000. I'll get a pic posted within the next day or two.

That's one beautiful guitar, TF!  At first I thought I was looking at a b&w photo, but when one looks closer one can see that deep green. Please feature it along with its new owner when you can!

TF, you got a "one of a kind" there. I got on the Gretch site and the one you collected was the only one I saw with that color. That deep green is amazing. I would have selected a different color, though, cause I'd be afraid of putting a scratch on that one. So nice looking!

Here it is! As it turned out, one of the pots on the Green one was bad (quite noisey) so I returned it. They didn't have another, so I ended up with the red full-hollow-body one in the Streamliner series. It does sound better than the centre-block one, but I won't be able to crank up full blast, because of feedback. That's okay ... I use the Les Paul for that stuff!

Thanks everyone!

Really like the super smooth sound of these new Broadtron pickups ... probably the clearest humbuckers I've every played, with a P90-like sound only more depth. I'd also heard that Bigsby tremolos were known for robbing a guitar of sustain, but that isn't the case here at all. For an entry-priced Gretsch, the overall build quality is really quite good.

MOJO ... if I ever get anything to record with, and get brave enough to "put myself out there", you might get to hear it.
