The Friend Songby Patti Dean

slowly, 2/4

When the [G]evening draws [C7]near

And the[G]stars wait to[C7]cheer

To[G]bring fourth all their[C7]glory

To[Am]shine bright once a- [Dm]gain

[G]Night animals an-[C7]ticipate

[G]Waiting for their[C7]day to start

There’s a[G]pause betwe%en[C7]day and night

When I[Am]think of[Dm]you my friend

When the[G]clouds drift slowly[C7]by

On a[G]lazy summer[C7]day

I[G]raise my eyes to[C7]ponder

Do I[Am]recognize that[Dm]shape

I[G]hear the roar of the[C7]waves

Their[G]mighty crash on the[C7]beach

There’s a[G]pause when the[C7]tide comes in

When I[Am]think of you my[Dm]friend

When I[Am]think of[Dm]you my[G]friend

[Am]Why do things [Em]end

The[Am]earth continues to[Em]spin

With[Am]all that forward[Em]motion

[Am]Why oh[Dm]why do things[G]end

[G]Going out on a [C7]warm night

To[G]share my love and[C7]laughter

There’s a[G]pause in my[C7]heart

When I[Am]think of you my[Dm]friend

I re-[Am]member[Dm]you my[G]friend

Re: The Friend Song by Patti Dean

Patti is my sister, and yes I am doing this for her with her permission. Incidentally, why isn't chordpro working for me?

Re: The Friend Song by Patti Dean

Thanks for the prompt response... no worries then.

On to your question, there is a thread up in "About Chordie" that addresses the Chopro problem, essentially it is "broken" and on the list of things to be "fixed as time allows".  Between "squishing Bugs" and "spanking Spammers" folks have been busy, but the Powers that Be are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in due course.  You might want to wander up to that section and voice your problem specifics to assist... Please.

Thanks Again

thanks.

Re: The Friend Song by Patti Dean

I've always been a fan of the bittersweet. The words and the music fit well together and it plays pretty good too if I guessed right. Pass on to your sister Patti well done.

I haven't come across very many songs in 3/4 time, especially songs for guitar.  Now, I'm quite intrigued.  One of you will have to put a recording of this up for us!  smile The words are lovely.  Welcome to Chordie Patti!

Re: The Friend Song by Patti Dean

oh, and, I realized it is not in 3/4.  It CAN be sung in 3/4, and at some point I started playing it in 3/4, but this was a mistake according to my sister.  Maybe I'll do a version in 3/4 sometime, but the version I put on youtube is true to the writer's original, in 2/4 or 4/4.
