Topic: My Kids 6th period

IDK if i have mentioned this or not,  but my older boy, Cade,  has at least two classes in his new school that he likes.

One of them is "Military History"  I was wondering how that was going to go, so I looked in on him the other night and asked him what his homework was.  "Sparta V/S Athens"  WELL OK they are really starting early! He loves that class.  Heck I might have done better in history if I had that to choose from!

He also gets to finish the day (6th Period) with a Guitar in his hands!  Its so cool they offer guitar as an elective, that he can take till he graduates.  This school realizes that not all kids are going to be interested in athletics or drama.  His teacher did rape Ultimate Guitar for the 200 song song book he gave them.  not sure where the 200 mp3's came from to match them , but they down loaded them to a jump drive  big_smile

When we were signing up  for classes, and I saw the class offered and asked if it was acoustic or electric, the counselor said "Acoustic and you have to have your own guitar".  Cade and I just looked at each other and laughed, We said "Um, That should not be a problem" LOLOL  This also is what helped prompt me into buying the new TAK, I had been using his since my Kamen is really pretty bad off and cost too much to have repaired, Hey that's a good reason right?  If you look at the Chordiestock 3  Pics, his guitar is the sunburst cutaway I was using.

One more thing the class requires, EACH STUDENT WILL SING IN FRONT OF THE CLASS THE SONG THEY LEARN. OH MY lolol.  Once again where was this type class when I was in 10 grade?  I was his age when I found a guy (who is now in brother status) to teach me how to play, and boy did he have his work cut out! LOL

Just wanted to share that with you guys.

Thanks for sharing Beamer, I wish I had the resources to go out and buy a Tekamine, ( hope I spelt that right?).

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Scott, that is AWESOME!  I'm so glad the school the kids are at offers something like that for your kids.  Just wonderful.  That kind of stuff sure makes a difficult move easier.  smile

Phill,

I got lucky, it was an over stock (had thought it was slightly used, but all the plastic was still on the pick guard and tuner)  I just happened to be at the right place at the right time for a really great deal.

I found out from my wife that for the first two weeks he as just eating alone at lunch, But then sometime this past week  a table full of girls invited him to sit with them. lolol  So even though he probably did not say a whole lot, he is being noticed.  So I think it will get better for him.

Re: My Kids 6th period

That's great that your kids have a school where the focus is on educating the whole person. Our Canadian school system is getting worse, where the pro-socialists are having an inordinate influence on the curriculum. More and more, our kids are being taught how to maximize their "publicly funded entitlements", and not how to be creative, productive people, who enjoy the benefits and sense of accomplishment that working provides.

Re: My Kids 6th period

He is learning that too! I have been teaching him how to detail cars with me.  he now takes ownership using words like WE and OUR instead of YOU and HIS.  I still gotta
keep an eye on him, but he is getting it.
