Topic: SUGGESTIONS: DECEMBER 2016 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

This month we are looking to have TWO SONGS suggested for December, but this time we are doing something a little different.

Firstly: We are looking for YOUR VOTE, yes YOU THE MEMBERS, on ONE SONG from all the previous suggested songs over the previous months that have NOT as yet been chosen.  Take a look at the list of songs listed below and place your vote. For example, if you would like to vote on “I shot the Sheriff” then say “I vote on I shot the Sheriff” or “I pick” or “I want” or something that lets us know which song your voting on from the list. The song with the most votes from you the members will be one of the chosen songs for December.

LIST:

Piano Man
Yesterday – The Beatles
The Cup Song
Teach Your Children
Starry Starry Night – Don McLean – Vincent
Classical Gas
Moonlight Sonata
Malaguena
Money For Nothing – Dire Straits
Poncho and Lefty
Small Town – John Mellancamp
The Times They Are A -Changin
Things We Said Today
You Aint Going Nowhere
Mother, A Punks Ballard – Beamer`s Song
Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran
Woodstock – Joni Mitchell & CSNY
Amarillo by Morning – George Straight
I Shall Be Released – Dylan
Bown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
The Band – The Weight
Midnight Special
Winter Wonderland
Heard It in A Love Song – Marshall Tucker Band
Be It Resolved – Tenement Funster`s Poem
Sister Golden Hair
Rip It Out – Ace Frehley
Cherry Bomb – John Cougar Mellancamp
I shall Be Released
Forever Young – Dylan
Born on a Bayou – Credence Clearwater
I Shot the Sheriff
Country Road
Blowing in the Wind
Ticket to Ride – Beatles

Secondly: Suggest a song of your choice, one that you would like to enter for December`s FSOTM.  It can be a Personal Favorite, it can be an Original Song you have Written, it could be a Christmas Song, it could be a Song you have never attempted before and would like to try or hear others try to cover.  These songs will be DRAWN OUT OF THE HAT.

Look forward to seeing which song everyone VOTES on from the list and what SUGGESTIONS you come up with.

Re: SUGGESTIONS: DECEMBER 2016 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

From the list my choice would be Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changing"

My own choice suggestion would be. "Moments In The Sun" by TIGLJK

Re: SUGGESTIONS: DECEMBER 2016 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

I like the idea of us all doing a song written by one of our own.  So my vote goes for Beamers song.  It should be really interesting, because none of us but Beamer knows how it goes - so the renditions should be wildly varied.

We need a Christmas song for December, so my new recommendation is "Christmas for Cowboys" by John Denver.

Granted B chord amnesty by King of the Mutants (Long live the king).

Jan, I'll withdraw mine and resubmit at a later time being that I agree we need a song for the holidays. as our friend Zurf suggested. Also, from the earthquake thread, I didn't mean to leave you out when I wrote my post and am glad you're okay! smile

Would we have to get Ian Anderson to drop by?  That could keep his travel schedule right busy.

smile  Start voting now.  If you don't vote, then the candidate you don't want to win might win.  Then you'll be stuck with one you despise for a whole term... of one month.  smile  Ha ha!

Strummerboy Bill .........  you can still leave your suggestion in for this month ..... as said above in the original thread it can be any song of your choice, it doesn`t have to be a Christmas song and the more suggestions and better smile  Also Strummber boy, how about a vote on one of the songs from the list above smile

zurf and tigljk ........... I noticed comments from you both  but no suggestions or votes from the list ............ how about it?  the more the merrier smile

You must be mistaken.  I both made a December suggestion of my own "Christmas for Cowboys" by John Denver, and voted for a song from the list - A Mother's Song by Beamer.  OK, I called it Beamer's song, but Beamer only has one song on the list, so I felt OK with that.

Here's a Youtube of the John Denver song.  A nice little waltz time song.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejLQSpVBxBE
