Re: whats your favorite song??

Hi
Hard to choose but... Crossroads by the Cream...Eric Clapton's guitar solo after all these years still blows me away.
Maybe the title should read "Songs"

Re: whats your favorite song??

Changes every week. Too many. At the moment Newton Faulkner is high on my list.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: whats your favorite song??

For singing and playing - Across the Universe - Beatles
For freaking out to - Supermassive Black Hole - Muse
For waving a lighter in the air to = Karma Police -Radiohead

But it's an endless list I guess!

Re: whats your favorite song??

It changes regularly.  My favorites of the moment:

Redemption Song, Three Little Birds - Bob Marley
Promises - Eric Clapton
Dixie Highway - Hillbilly Idol
Country Life - James McModerator (or whatever our esteemed moderator's name is)
Forever & Ever Amen - Randy Travis

Only the last two do I attempt to play.

Current favorite songs to play are:'
Crocodile Rock - Elton John
Fever & Ever Amen - Ibid
Country Life - Ibid
Hippie Chick - Selso
Tim Cup Chalice - Jimmy Buffett

This could go on  for hours, though, so I'll stop there.

- Zurf

Granted B chord amnesty by King of the Mutants (Long live the king).
If it comes from the heart and you add a few beers... it'll be awesome! - Mekidsmom
When in doubt ... hats. - B.G. Dude

Re: whats your favorite song??

Songs that I can't help listening to no matter how many times i've heard them, even if i think i'm sick of them are:

Hotel California
Good Vibrations
Ziggy Stardust (Bauhaus or Bowie)
Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley)
Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd and I wish someone would shoot the Scissor Sisters for what they did)
Loads more but no time!
Oh, guilty pleasure.... Ice Ice Baby (Vanilla Ice)  Another topic perhaps?

Re: whats your favorite song??

Thats paradise city by Guns 'N' Roses, its on the 'appetite for destruction' album, which was very good by the way.

'take me down to the paradise city,
where the grass is green and the girls are    pretty Oh won't you please take me home....'

You ever heard Sweet Child of Mine? Another very good song from the same people.

Re: whats your favorite song??

Would have to agreee, it's a very difficult question with so many great song's to choose from. However....

1. Nutshell- Alice in Chains
2. Laid- Matt Nathanson or James but prefer Matt Nathanson's version
3. Sittin on the Dock of the Bay- Otis Redding
4. You Can't Always Get What You Want- Rolling Stones
5. Lenny- Stevie Ray Vaughn

Basically if I were stranded on a desert island, those are my choices to have with me, along with my accoustic and a few bottles of Captain Morgan, Marlboro Lights and an endless supply of guitar strings. I have a tendency to break mine often.  Good question Last_Rebel. Kudos! smile

Re: whats your favorite song??

Last rebel Darlin,
I have a million. But right now "Wonderful Tonight" in this mode is my all
time favourite! But the girlies always spoil it by singing " But i say" Guys you have no chance tonight"?. Which i must say " I find amusing, but they know it drives me nuts.
Any how, all that aside.
Sparkling Chains" By admin James McCormick  is my all time favourite
for this year. If anyone ever epitomised my thinking and how i feel about
life in general at this stage " James captured it unknowingly for me
in his written word.
I have sung it so many times in ceremonies ie, Weddings, Anniversary,
and just in general. as i love to sing the song. The words are so wonderful.
I suggest you save the words you young people, theres a lot to be learned from  them!
You will appreciate and understand  them  more as you get older,  maybe
Just maybe you will even remember James and Old Doll from the
Chordie Forum?. I feel honoured to be linked to this Gentleman
and his words.
Dia Linn to you James and the Forum.

Old Doll.

It's such an awesome song! One of my fav. bands of all time, definetely in my top 5. The whole ep Jar of Flies was/is an incredible collection of great music. It's so bare boned and you can listen to it at any given time, no matter what your mood. Also, if your checking out Guns N Roses, look into the song Patience, I think it's off the EP "Lies". Enjoy and glad to hear someone else likes the song "Nutshell", cool!

Re: whats your favorite song??

Re: whats your favorite song??

Not an all time favourite song, that would take far too long to think of, but I cannot stop playing Rewind by Paolo Nutini just now. Only learned how to play it the other week and absolutely HAVE to play it at least once or twice a day. B-E-A-utiful song!

All I got, is a red guitar, three chords and the truth

Re: whats your favorite song??

I go through most days and usually hear at least one song that I think to myself "Ooooo, need to learn that". But by the time I get home and have fed the hungry mouths and stuff, I've forgotten what song it was.

So, bud_wiser, thank you, my Paisley Pal, you have just reminded me of a song I heard ages ago and had that wee voice tell me to remember - which I forgot.

Just had a wee go at it there. Good stuff.

Cheers mate.

Re: whats your favorite song??

No worries Al. Brilliant song to play. A few nice wee hammer-ons and a lovely little chord sequence. Plus, song by a good Paisley Buddie so it can't be bad.

Re: whats your favorite song??

Paolo Nutini just now,  think he is brill, esp These Streets, Last request etc, great singer
and performer. Quite easy to pick up most of Paolo's songs, fun to try.
