Topic: Best Christmas songs?

Hey ya'll!

Whats your opinions on the best Christmas songs to play on guitar?

Ive been doing the usual Slade and Wizzard stuff, but they get slightly boring after a while!!

Since its teh festive season I thought I'd try my hand at some more!!!

Re: Best Christmas songs?

Hi Scrimmy82,
Lots of Christmas songs in the Public Songbooks section here on chordie.  Check the 'Christmas' category - everything from classic carols to more recent stuff.  James

Re: Best Christmas songs?

My favourite ones are the classic ones

Slades "merry christmas everyone" but sang and played like the band Oasis do it, slowly.

And also
The pogues and Kirsty Macoll. " fairytail in newyork"  Probably the best ever christmas song ever written.

And a John Prine song    Christmas in prison

Those are my favourite threee I like doing

Re: Best Christmas songs?

I was reading today that BBC radio one has bleeped out parts of " fairytale in new york",

some people just have no sense of humour, even a gay activist said he was not offended and neither would most gay people.

But then thats the BBC for you.

Re: Best Christmas songs?

Hi UYK.
There were so many complaints yesterday to the BBC, They had to rescind
on the decision Fairy Tale of New York!
Did you ever in you life hear anything like it! P/ C gone insane!
A song writtten 20 years ago! I suppose the next one will be that old classic
"Red Sails in the Sunset" As a drug smuggling ship!

All that Gombeen done was bring to the fore another word to be used as a weapon against Gay people, some of whom i have as friends. and am proud
to.
Did the same Gombeen never consider this! The BBC give a recipe for a dish called " Faggotts& Peas.
The mind boggles as to what they were now going to call this dish?.. Em and peas please? them and peas please? Dont mention
the war and pease please? 2 syllables and peas please?. Nod nod wink and
peas please..  Maybe that great organization  minus that Gombeen, would  lend its name to the dish.  BBC & peas.
Someone in the BBC needs to get a grip on life and fast.
