I've had this melody in my head for a while and have slowly been working out the chords. I have a ways to go for recording as there is a lot of finger picking and bar chords not to mention my frustrations at recording. Anyways today the lyrics came to me and I thought I would post it as a poem and maybe kick start me. ![]()
This is about just being a friend and being there when needed.
No Answers
If your tears should fall from heaven,
To wash your love out to the sea.
If a trust is made then broken,
I will help you to believe.
If your world comes crashing down,
And piece of mind just can't be found.
I---I will have no answers.
But I---I won't let you drown.
If the winter snows blow early,
And a cold wind cools your heart.
If it seems that life will surely,
Tear what's good in you apart.
If your world turns upside down,
And your too scared to climb the wall.
I---I will have no answers.
But I---I won't let you fall.
If your feeling sad or lonely,
And you can't unlock the door.
I would stand with you if only,
You could share with me once more.
When a letter can't be opened,
When your scared what to believe.
When your better but still broken,
I'll be there to fill your need.
If your world comes tumbling down,
And your tears have all run dry.
I---I will have no answers.
But I---I will help you cry.
I---I will have no answers.
But I---I will help you fly

Great lyrics. Kap. And even better if the melody is all but there !
The idea of "no answers" is something we all take our own sweet time to understand. It's just about being there.

Hi KAP54,
If I ever find myself unable to find the words to express to my love and best friend how I feel about her, I'll say something like "Just read this poem on Chordie. That's what I'm trying to say!".
Well done!

Excellent Ken! It's very good... and so true... being a good friend doesn't mean fixing things for someone, just being there to help them get through things when they're down. Thank you for sharing this with us! ![]()

Hi StranSong,
Thanks for the read
The melody is there but the playing recording needs a lot of work...Oiy. True enough about being there. Most times we just need that non-judgmental shoulder to lean on and that will be enough to get the ball rolling.
Muchos Gracias
Hi Frequent Flyer,
I am flattered by your compliment.
It's a great feeling to write something that hits home.
Cheers to you and yours.
Hi mekidsmom,
It really is kinda strange that the first thing one tries to do to help someone when they are down is to fix the problem. Human nature I guess... with the heart in the right place. I did a little re-write twice today...Oiy Vey!!! I hope it didn't loose any meaning.
Thank You Kindly for the read and you are Most Welcome. ![]()

Hi Phill ![]()
For the last couple of months I've had the melody stuck in me wee little brain while being stuck on a topic to write. Then the "No Answers" phrase just popped in and everything seemed to fall into place. Funny how it works... sometimes.
Thank You for your kind words
Hi Selso ![]()
It's good to see you back again, even if only for awhile.
Thanks for the read. My recording has taken a big downturn as of late but hopefully it will turn around some.
Thanks Again
Hi Lena ![]()
I hope to get the chording worked out soon so I can take a crack again at recording as this one has a personal tie to it. That's probably why it took so long to find the topic..."Can't see the trees for the forest" kinda thing.
Hope all is well with you also. ![]()
Thanks for the read.

In looking back at some older posts, I came back to this one and remembered the kind of wonderful heartfelt writing that drew me to the Poems section to begin with. I think its a very relatable piece of writing. I'm wondering if chords were ever put to it? good stuff

Hi T-Rex, Our Good Friend Roger
pointed this out or I would have missed it. I did finally put this to music and I have enclosed the link for the chords. I may have changed the lyrics somewhat but after reading the post I think I should go back to the original. It's been so long since I seen it I'm not sure.
Thank You for bringing it back up
It is a good feeling knowing what I write can touch a persons soul ![]()
Cheers and Thank You.
Kenny
P.S. It's a pleasure too meet you ![]()
